Remarks

I wish the management could have been a bit better but overall there's no major qualms though I'd like the fee structure to be revised. The lush green campus is amazing but maybe they could build a few more washrooms to use.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is updated each year to always stay relevant. The syllabus though accredited is mostly theory based and practicals are less. We follow 5 event based system where each internal assessment or event is considered, leading things to get rather stressful at times. The syllabus is definitely more hands on with industry knowledge but I feel it's better to have more labs for better learning. Videos, smart boards and other tools are used to impart education and industrial visits are arranged each year. All in all, though the curriculum design is good there's still a little room for development.

Placement Experience

2.5

Our college has some of the best placement statistics in the state and loads of software companies conduct mass placements each year. Core jobs are a bit less and in my branch Biotechnology, only 4 to 5 companies come for interviews as most students opt to do their master's. Our branch does provide placement training to prep us for interviews and companies like Biocon, Jubilant and other pharmaceutical companies attend each year. Internships are also encouraged and several of our seniors pursued internships from IISC, IIT, University of Mysore, etc.

College Events

4

There are a lot of fests conducted at SJCE. Each branch has its own fresher's party and branch fest along with a farewell party to the outgoing batch. There are sports tournaments and events throughout the year and all branches take part. The technical clubs like IEEE and LCC conduct a number of technical events and hackathons regularly and the editorial board runs "Shabd" the biggest literary fest in the state. The cultural clubs also conduct several competitions and the college annual fest 'Jayciana' is known all over India.

Fee Structure And Facilities

My college fee structure is rather expensive, with my admission mode being COMEDK. Students are admitted via CET, COMEDK or management modes with the CET fee coming upto 60, 000, COMEDK fee at around 1, 80, 000 and management fee varying upon branch. Apart from this fee, the university also charges it's own fee of about 30, 000 each year. So totally my fees falls at around 2. 2lakh which is very expensive. While the college is somewhat transparent about fee structure I wish the fees could be reduced.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't opted for any scholarship or education loan. To be frank not a lot of scholarships are offered by the college. However, there are many scholarship facilities available for students belonging to special categories as well as few for those students who secured admission via CET. Sadly I wasn't eligible for any of these. Our college also has a tie up with Punjab National Bank to avail student loans but I didn't make use of this.

Campus Life

3.5

The Gender ratio is comparatively better in comparison to loads of college's in India, with girls and boys present almost proportionally with the exception of the mechanical engineering department. The students are incredibly diverse with people from all over the country seeking admission at SJCE. Students from different parts of the state, North India, North East and other places in South India study here. You can also see several students from different economic status, from immensely rich to middle class to rural students as well, but there's no stratification and everyone mingles with everyone. The labs are rather old but each branch conducts lab in sessions so that everyone gets singular access to equipment.

Hostel Facilities

2

No, I am a day boarder. However I do have several friends in hostels and they claim that the food and other facilities could be better. There is also just one bus available for the off campus hostel which is worrisome. The expenses amount to nearly 70k to 80k per year or nearly 8k or 9k per month.

Alumni/Alumna

Our seniors are simply the best and they were always super helpful in giving us advice and sharing notes and experiences. They make our journey at SJCE smoother and better informed. I haven't yet interacted with the alumni association as we're still in second year but our seniors say that alumni always lend a helping hand to us juniors.

Admission

I wanted to do something different rather than computer science or IT like most people opt for and had always loved biology. I was intrigued by the Biotechnology engineering course at SJCE in my own city Mysore and decided it was the best choice for me. Sri Jayachamarajendra college of engineering is rather famous throughout Karnataka and has some of the best placement statistics in the state- the annual fest Jayciana is the biggest cultural event all round. SJCE is a well established and good college, which is why I was eager to call it my own.

Faculty

3

The faculty is variable. There are highly knowledgeable and experienced lecturers who are simply amazing when it comes to teaching. Almost all the professor's hold several degrees, a PhD and certifications without fail. Our lecturers always put us above all else to guide us in the right path. There are some lecturers who aren't quite good at teaching but this is normal in all institutes and the number of ones who teach well outweigh the rest.

Placement Experience:

lacements at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology Placements at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology are decent overall, with stronger outcomes for CS-related branches and moderate but reliable opportunities for core branches like Chemical Engineering. ???? Placement Eligibility Students generally become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester (final year). Some companies also allow pre-placement offers (PPOs) through internships after the 6th semester. ???? Companies Visiting the Campus ???? Common Recruiters (Across Branches) TCS Infosys Wipro Accenture Cognizant Capgemini IBM L&T Deloitte (limited roles) ???? Core / Chemical-Related Opportunities L&T Reliance (limited roles) Schneider Electric Saint-Gobain Some manufacturing, quality, and operations-based companies Core chemical companies visit in limited numbers, so many Chemical Engineering students also sit for IT, analytics, and operations roles. ???? Packages Offered (Approximate) ???? Salary Range Highest Package (overall): ~?40–50 LPA (off-campus / international offer, mostly CS) Highest for Core / Chemical roles: ~?8–10 LPA Average Package (overall): ?7–8 LPA Average for Chemical Engineering: ?4–6 LPA ???? Job Profiles Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Process / Quality Engineer Analyst / Consultant Software Engineer (for interested students) ???? Placement Percentage Overall placement rate: ~90–95% Chemical Engineering: ~60–70% Students with good CGPA, internships, and skills tend to get placed earlier and in better roles. ???? Employability & Skill Development The college provides: Placement training sessions Aptitude and soft-skill workshops Coding and interview preparation support However, students are expected to upskill on their own, especially for core industry roles or higher-paying profiles. ???? My Plans After Completing the Degree After completing my B.E. in Chemical Engineering, I plan to: Gain industry experience through campus placement or off-campus opportunities
