Student's Review On Jadavpur University - [JU], Kolkata

I prefer Jadavpur University over other colleges as it provides better jobs,better ways for bigger achievements, world-wide connections through professors and chances to be part of great projects and ideas. To be honest I haven't applied for any other colleges through the admission process under WBJEE and got selected in Jadavpur in the first attempt. The admission process of Jadavpur Univesity is done through counselling under WBJEE board and based on the merit in basis of score got in the WBJEE exam. The cutoffs are usually high compared to other colleges in West Bengal and students can get admission only through the WBJEE exam. I only wrote the entrance exams at Jadavpur University in the departments of Comparative Literature, English, and Linguistics. I cracked the exams for both CL and Linguistics, and decided to take admission in the former. The admission process at the Master's level in Jadavpur University is highly competitive, considering the number of applicants, which is often around a thousand. Any Bachelor's degree holder from any stream is eligible to write the entrance exam, provided they have secured at least 50% marks in their undergrad degree exam. Admission here is done by WBJEE only. Interested candidates should give the exam and thereafter Counselling is done. Here is the list of category wise last rank to get a seat in Jadavpur University General - 5k OBCa -7k OBCb - 8.8k SC - 15k ST - 25k WBJEE application forms started (wbjee.nic) in the last week of December and ended upto 3Rd week of January. The WBJEE exam held in the last Sunday of April and thereafter results comes on 1St week of June Counselling starts from 2nd week and full fledged classes started from first week of August. About two months after the results of major boards were announced for the +2 level, the form filling portal was opened with links available on the official website. There was a criteria of minimum 70% marks overall and maths was a compulsory subject. The portal took 70rs as test fees. The form filling was completely online. On stipulated dates, announced prior in the website, an entrance exam was held and two weeks later the results and rest of the admission process was announced.
