Raniganj Girls College was established in 1980 to address a key social issue around the education of girls and women. It runs UG courses with honors in 23 subjects from Arts, Performing Arts, Science and Commerce; along with PG courses in Urdu and program courses in 27 subjects. - Hostel: The college’s girls’ hostel named Maitree became functional in the academic year 2017-18. It has the capacity to house 26 candidates and is administered directly by the principal.
- NIRVAR: NIRVAR is a platform implemented by the college to identify the problems faced by the learners to help them with their academics. The teachers’ council and the alumni association financial assistance for the meritorious and the needy students. There are several other ways in which the college assists them financially weak.
- Canteen: The college also houses a canteen for its students. It also boasts of a seminar library facility, alongside the central library, to provide home-landing and home-referral services for students, free of cost.

There is no entrance exam for admission. the whole of the admission process depends upon the results of the 12th board.for taking admission firstly we have to register in the college website with certain minimum fees and then the college published the merit list depending upon the 12th board results. according to the ranking of the merit list, the willing student can take their admission.

The specialisation I pursued under B.com (hons.) was in Finance which was for the duration of 3 years divided into 6 semesters.The course was devoted to the core knowledge of Financial market and environment which helps students to pursue programmes such as CA, MBA ,CMA, etc at higher level studies.

The college has designed the course curriculum for three years. It is a basic undergraduate commerce course. It has six semesters pattern with regular end terms. It focuses on subjects like accountancy, economics etc.

It has a big campus with all the necessary facilities. The infrastructure is also good and well maintained. It works on the overall development of the students. Overall, it is a good college in the state of West Bengal.

The teaching methods of the college is very fun and innovative. Group discussions, seminars, projects, exhibitions are held for better learning. The department of commerce focuses on accounting, finance and taxation.
