- I appreciated the environment and improvements are needed in infrastructure and the entire system.
- Campus life is cool u all will enjoy it.
- Most of the faculties are good except one or two and the placement officer are really in good shape which is proved by our stats every year despite not receiving funds from the state for the past 5 years.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure is really not up to the mark in terms of other IITs and NITs.
- College administration doesn't function properly.
- Branch shifting after 1st year is not allowed.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course is up to the modern demands and more than enough for any project work in the related field.Like most of the students are divided into two group like the core and non core where students have to learn from their own coding if they are interested in software stuff and consultancy roles if interested in management.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities start from 2nd year itself and most of the CSE students gets SDE roles in companies like Samsung,Google, Amazon, Facebook with a stipend of around 40k per month for a period of 3 months as our college doesn't allow 6 month internship rule like the IITs.The projects include like the AI-ML and some are interested in doing backend frontend for web development.
Placement Experience
From 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements and there are plenty of companies that come like in my branch there 35-40 companies (core) came and no of offers were 30.Placement percentage was around 95%.Median package was around 7.5lpa and highest was 15lpa.Well my plans are not decided yet, currently in my 2nd year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Like in case of my college completes our BE in 10K for 4 years.Regarding the fees structure we pay the first four semester fees together in one installment that is rupees 5710 and in fifth semester we have to pay our remaining fees that is 5000 for the other four semesters.And there are plenty of scholarships available for students like SVCM,Freeship.
Campus Life
Campus life is really cool, there are many canteens in our college we can enjoy a lot during our free time and can share stories with our seniors about everything.There are plenty of clubs in our college namely the E-Cell, mechatronics club, aerospace club,science club, mathematical society,coding club.There are also plenty of fests like the Sanskriti which happens during the month of April where we enjoy a lot for around 7 days.Then comes our tech fest srijan where there are plenty of events namely business plan and many more.For sports there are many competitions for football, cricket, badminton,etc namely the hexagon for football and u turn is organised for 1st year students only.
Admission
Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college.
Faculty
The faculties are really good.They will always try to help you.But the academics are really tough like they take two class test each of 60 marks which is converted to 30 and the end sem is of 100 marks which is converted to 70.There are plenty of exams every month.
Night Life
Though I don't stay in the hostels but as according to my friends who are staying in the hostels the timings are strict as campus closed around 9pm during normal days.The Library,gym, canteens opens around at 9am and closes at 7pm.Hangout spots are namely Open Air theatre inside the college and from outside the college u can go to ravindra sarobar lake.Yes the locality is safe.
