NIT Trichy for B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering offers a solid curriculum and decent internships, such as a summer opportunity at Qualcomm with a good stipend, but the placement scene this year was hit hard, with only about 80% placement and an average package of 14-15 LPA. In contrast, NIT Warangal's B.Tech in Biotechnology provides a more robust placement scenario with around 250 companies visiting, including major names like Google and Amazon, and a tuition fee of 125,000 per year. While both colleges provide scholarships, NIT Warangal seems to offer better overall ROI due to its strong placement record and industry connections. If you're looking for better job opportunities and a more lucrative career post-graduation, NIT Warangal might be the smarter financial choice.

NITs are great! IISERs are even better (you can stay and play in the same institution all the way to your doctorate completion).

The B.Tech in Biotechnology is overrated and often seen as just a halfway credential. All Biotechnology courses tend to be a mish-mash (neither here nor there). Invest deeply in basic sciences! You’ll find it easier to navigate applied biotech jobs, internships, or even entrepreneurship.

Personally, I'd go for NIT Warangal if you're interested in a dynamic environment and better placement prospects, especially in the biotech field, while NIT Trichy is great if you want to dive deep into electronics.

• The biggest drawback for biotechnology students is that even after qualifying GATE-BT, your options are limited. You primarily have to apply for higher studies, while students from other branches can explore opportunities in PSUs and renowned labs like DRDO, ISRO, etc., which hire for scientist positions after UG/PG.
• A satisfactory career in biotechnology typically requires a plan to pursue a PhD. This is because biotechnology is fundamentally about research. Many core companies, such as Roche, Novozymes, and Biocon, hire for R&D positions primarily after a PhD in biotechnology.
• You can also consider applying for assistant professor roles and build a career in teaching.

If you have a clear vision of pursuing a PhD, then NIT Warangal is undoubtedly a strong choice.
