My experience in NIT warangal

Hostel are not that well maintained here specially for girls

Hostel Facilities:

Hostel is huge, equip with lifts but most of time 2-3 lift works , bathroom gets clean every day after 10am, hostel is also gets clean very frequently and there is washing machine facility but most of the it's occupied, it's necessary for students to stay in hostel because of security reasons, so at the time of admission you will get enrolled here, food quality is not that good if you are from north and menu is same all the time

Hostel Facilities:

There are seperate hostels for boys and girls. In the campus, there is the most famous 1.8k boys hostel. It is a 9floor building and has the capacity of 1800. Its the largest hostel in the Asia. The rooms will be allocated to two or three people based on the availabity and requests. The mess serves variety of foods. The items include famous dishes across the India. To get a hostel, we need to go to the hostel office. There are also may PG and rooms around the campus.

Hostels are the worst part , some hostels are nice but the hostel I got in horrible
Mess food is like for animals , on breakfast they sometimes give us rotten bread / fungus bread
No canteens are there for proper lunch or dinner we have to go outside of the campus whenever we have to eat

Some hostels are good, we are not allowed to use any electrical appliance in the room not even the iron , also the weather is too hot and we are not allowed to bring table fan in the hostel The meal we are getting are like of a cow or dog I will not prefer to take room or pg in warangal because in warangal all the shops are closed by 10 pm

Hostel Facilities:

In hostel room we got a fan, a table , a tubelight,a chair and a bed .The size of room is quite spacious. Meal quality is average . Registration process is done after college allotment.The hostel and mess charge is 27000 per sem which is good.

NIT Warangal- where learning meets opportunity

Dislikes

The hostel timings is very very strict for girls, especially in the 1st year. There’s not much freedom as compared to other institutes like nits and iits.

Hostel Facilities:

Cots are provided, mattresses and pillows are not. Every room has at least one fan, and every floor has 2 sets of washrooms in the 1st year building for girls. The meals always have rice, chapatis and some sort of curry, sometimes pickle or sweet, etc. there is a special dinner alternatively veg and no veg every month or so.

In our mess non veg is not provided I love to eat chicken atleast once in week but here they provide only pure veg so I felt disappointed in aspect of food in nit warangal

The room is quite good and each room is accomodation for 2 students they provide bed and cupboard to keep our clothes I don't like the menu but the meal quality is healthy but menu is not tasty and I don't feel it tasty Registration process for hostel is simple it is complete online through smile portal nonhindrmerences during the process I personally like to live in hostel inenjoy hotlstel life

Hostel Facilities:

We have a website called ERP nitw in which all the fees and registration for courses are going on we have cupboards, a fan ,light, they provide ethernet connection and they give a bedcot for each we have 8 four people shared room rest of all double shared rooms in total 900 rooms are there , the quality for avarage and we ve only veg mess for 1st year students and for non veg we have to pay extra.

Hostel life is a major part of your college life and the allocation of rooms is important because it decides the kind of people you will be spending time with.

NIT Surathkal

First-year students of NIT Surathkal are allotted 1st and 2nd hostel blocks with double occupancy rooms.
In the second year, students get to choose a single roommate but the allotment of rooms or wings is random. If you prefer to stay in a single room in the second year you can opt for the 5th block.
From the third year till the end of their graduation students will be allotted a single occupancy room in one of the mega towers and they get to choose their wing mates.

NIT Warangal

In NIT Warangal, first-year boys are allotted rooms in 1.8k, the ultra mega hostel.
The room allotment is usually random but if you want someone specific in your room, you may request the person allocating rooms.
For the years you’ll have to book your room online on your portal.

Frankly speaking, the hostel facility at NIT Warangal is very poor. The students are forced to stay in congested rooms and unhygienic bathrooms. They do not provide basic amenities to the students. The first-year students need to stay at the Sarojini hostel, which has unhygienic and pathetic living conditions. In the second year, JEE girls get Priyadarshini Hall and DASA Girls get New Ladies Hostel; the living conditions in these hostels are not so different from the Sarojini Hostel

It is better not to carry many things to the hostel; you can easily buy anything from the nearby shops. Try to bring more food items, and note that electrical appliances like hair dryers, heaters, kettles, etc. are not allowed in the hostel

One of my female friends was allotted Sarojini hostel and she shared her experience that was nothing short of a nightmare. The rooms were very small and congested. She had to share the tiny room with 3 other girls.The lighting was poor making it difficult to study.

The hostel was located remotely away from all other hostels. Girls are expected to mention their name in the register whenever entering or leaving the hostel. The hygienic conditions of bathrooms are pathetic with rusted doors and insects of all kinds.

The hostel for the second year students, 'The new Ladies hostel' is, however, better. The rooms are small but neat with clean, white marble tiles. There is a gym as well as a garden. This hostel has long corridors that let in fresh air with huge balconies.

So the first year for girls at NIT Warangal is a nightmare while the second year is better.

NIT Warangal has a separate hostel for students of every year that are well-maintained and well-furnished with modern facilities.

1.8k Ultramega Hostel

This is the largest hostel in India.

Both BTech, as well as MTech students of NIT Rourkela, are allotted this hostel in the first year. It houses around 1800 students.
Usually, MTech students are allotted single occupancy rooms while BTech students are allotted double occupancy rooms.
The hostel has amazing facilities like a gym, table tennis room, coffee shop, and snacks corner. Additionally, it has 8 lifts and two badminton courts on the lawn.

Old Blocks

These are the oldest hostels of NIT Rourkela.

These hostels have been renovated recently to improve the living conditions here.
This hostel is home to second year students of NIT Rourkela.
Usually the rooms allotted are triple occupancy rooms.
This hostel is in close proximity to the college stadium and basketball, volleyball, tennis courts.
Every block has 3 floors.

Mega Hostel(1k)

This hostel is also very huge.

The hostel has the capacity to house 1000 students.
The rooms allotted are usually simple occupancy rooms.
The hostel is allotted to 3rd and final-year B.Tech students.
It has 7 floors and lifts with a football ground beside it.

International Students Hostel(DASA Hostel)

This hostel is especially for foreign students studying at NIT Rourkela.

Which has better hostel facilities, NIT Surathkal or NIT Warangal?

One of my relatives has resided in NIT Warangal hostels. Based on his experience, I can give the following information:

NIT Warangal has Asia's biggest hostel and it is given to B.Tech, M.Tech, and BCA freshers. There are both single and double rooms.
On the ground floor, there is a snacks corner, Amul shop, and coffee and tea shops as well. This is a hangout place for all the students.
There is another big hostel which is given to 3rd and 4th-year students with single and double rooms.
For girls, the hostels are not as good as the boys’ hostels.
In the first year, you will be accommodated with 4 people in one room due to space issues.
You will also be restricted from moving out of the hostel at any time during 1st year.
For the second-year students, an old hostel is provided where the washrooms desperately need renovation and the rooms are not in good condition.
For 3rd and 4th year, you might get good rooms which will be spacious and comfortable. Although new hostels are being developed, the facilities might change in the coming years.

When talking about NIT Surathkal, the hostel facilities are fine. In the 1st and the 2nd year, you will have sharing rooms. From the 3rd year onwards you will get single accommodations. Internet connectivity in the hostels is not very good. The girls are provided washing machines. There is a night canteen on the hostel premises. For boys, there are no in and out timings.

How are the hostels at NIT Warangal?

The hostel room provided are really small. It's a two sharing room for most of the students and each student gets one half of the cupboard. The washrooms are poorly maintained and are dirty most of the time. The meal quality in the mess is average and sometimes the plates are not properly washed. It gets really crowded after classes which causes a lot of chaos. The regristration process for hostels is done through the SMILE portal and it is affordable.
