From what I've researched, DTU's B.Tech in Chemical Engineering offers excellent placement opportunities with an impressive average package of over 16 lakhs and a highest package of 1.8 Crore, which is quite appealing considering the tuition fee of around 2,29,000 for the year 2025-2026. In contrast, IIIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science and Biosciences might yield good returns too, but specific placement data isn't as clear. DTU also has a solid scholarship framework and a strong internship pipeline with big names like Microsoft and Google, enhancing its value for money. If you lean towards tech and want a more established placement record, DTU could be the smarter financial choice, while IIIT Delhi might suit those interested in a niche field with potentially emerging opportunities.

As a DTU student, I want to share an important point to consider while making your choice. I can't provide much insight into CSB or SE, but one thing is clear: if you genuinely want to learn and seek a quality education, consider IIITD over DTU. Yes, you may need to put in the effort at IIITD, but that hard work will pay off significantly in the long run. DTU has its perks (like a chill life), but it lacks the infrastructure for education and may not help you reach your full potential.

Please don't take my advice blindly; just consider my perspective as a senior!

All the best for your future!

As a 3rd year undergrad at DTU, I can say that in terms of education, faculty, and infrastructure, IIIT Delhi is definitely better than DTU.

In terms of placements (considering tech branches from both colleges):

  • Both are similar, with a 19-20% difference.
  • Competition is lower at IIIT, but the number of companies to student ratio is also comparable.

Now, when it comes to the overall vibe:

  • DTU has the edge in terms of chillness, but that doesn’t matter much if you’re serious about the tech field.
  • If you’re really into tech, IIIT Delhi is the better choice over DTU.

However, if you’re unsure and don’t see yourself as a hardcore programmer, then DTU might be the right fit for you.

Ultimately, hard work will be the key factor in both cases, as both colleges excel in placements. A DTU student will be putting in x (hard work), while an IIIT student will be putting in around 1.3 to 1.5x.

I am a student at IIIT Delhi and have a good understanding of the scenario at DTU, NSUT, and IIIT Delhi.

ONLY if you have a deep interest in research and higher studies and are ready to study rigorously for 4 years, consider joining IIIT Delhi. Otherwise, please try to get admission in DTU/NSUT/Any Other.

REASONS:
The course workload at IIIT Delhi is way too much compared to DTU/NSUT. Many might think that a heavier workload means better placements at IIIT. But NO, that’s not the case. The fancy figures shown on the website are from last year’s placement season, which had a batch size of 220 students. As the batch size has been increasing every year, there will be a significant fall in placements too.

Taking this year’s placement stats as an example:
As of 15th September 2020:

  • Full-time placement offers for the batch graduating in 2021 (Batch size: 310) is 38%
  • Internship offers for the batch graduating in 2022 (Batch size: 382) is 19%
  • The incoming batch size for 2020-2024 is 524 (480 through JAC + 44 through IIITD Admission process) :)

From a placement perspective, almost every company visiting IIIT Delhi allows CSE, ECE, and CSAM, and 75% of those allow other branches too.

DTU B.Tech in Chemical Engineering has a strong placement record with top companies like Microsoft and Google, offering impressive packages—highest at 1.8 crore and an average of over 16 lakhs. The internship opportunities are also good, with stipends around 60-70k. In contrast, IIIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science and Biosciences, while likely having a good curriculum, doesn't have as much detailed placement data available. However, IIIT Delhi is known for its tech-driven approach and innovative programs, which can lead to decent job prospects. Overall, if you're leaning towards tech and want robust placement support, DTU is a solid choice, but if you’re interested in cutting-edge biosciences and computer science, IIIT Delhi could be the way to go.
