Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune, is a private design institute in Pune, Maharashtra, established in 2004. Symbiosis Institute of Design Admissions 2026

Symbiosis Institute of Design Pune offers admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Design. To be eligible, candidates should have cleared the last qualifying examination with 50%. The final selection of candidates is done based on their SEED exam scores, followed by Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction. SID Pune application fee is INR 3250, in total. This includes the SEED test fee of INR 2250, and SID Program application fee is INR 1000. Symbiosis Institute of Design Admission process is given below:

Appear for the Online Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED).
The result of SEED will be put up on the SID website as per the schedule. If a candidate qualifies SEED, he/she would be eligible to appear for SID’s Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI).
Shortlisting for admission will be based only by specialization selected during online registration.
Upload the Portfolio on the portal a day prior to the PRPI. Perform the PRPI Task. This will be shared 3 days prior to the chosen date of online PRPI. Upload the PRPI Task on the portal a day prior to the PRPI.
Appear for the online Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI).
Final selection would be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the chosen specialization.

Student view on course curriculum

Design is a vastly growing field in the market. The number of students applying for design course is increasing yearly as more and more people come to know about the field. the amount of fees colleges are charging for the course is on the higher side when compared with the quality of education offered. The design course tends to take a mental, physical and financial level on students.

Total course fees and provided scholarship

The annual fees for the bachelor's degree in design course is approximately 5lakhs. This includes tuition fees and access to all machineries and labs present in the college campus. This does not however include cost of materials that you will require for your assignments. Those would be additional expense on the part of the student and will depend on the student's specialisation and course. Scholarship facilities are available and mails are sent out during the year. Student's can apply depending on the eligibility requirements.

College fest and various activities

Different festivals are celebrated. each department also hosts differnet events. There's a 24 hour fest called Lakshya which is held yearly and it is extremely fun to spend a whole day in college, throughout the night. The college fest is a 3 day event in january or february. The library is well equipped with books, both physical and online. There is a gym on campus and health also however the health centre is not upto mark in my opinion. Classrooms are equipped with sensex boards which is good. You can take part in sports. there's basketball, football, volleyball, badminton etc courts.

Hostel facilities provided by the college

Hostel fees is hefty but then you get an attached bathroom and toilet in each room. There is options for either 2 sharing or 3 sharing rooms and fees depend accordingly. You are given cupboards and shelfs to store your stuff. Food quality is not good however, people tend to order online a lot. Your hostel room experience will mainly depend on who has been assigned to you as your roomate/s. If you break curfew you may be subject to fines. there are 2 security dogs in the hostel. also swings are available in the main compound which is good.

Student views on the faculty

Faculty members are experienced. the quality taught is not adequate with the amount of fees we are required to pay considering all additional expenses for materials are on us. The faculty tends to overlook everything as design is hands on and students are supposed to do their assignments

Admission process of the college

Symbiosis is said to be the top private institute for design, and most students who don't get into the national colleges apply here. This college also is the one with the lower fees compared to all other private colleges. The admission process includes an online multiple choice assessment. On clearing that you are then subject to a pr/pi round where in you are given a task which includes 2D and 3D modelling which you have to present to your interviewers along with your portfolio. You may be subject to questioning and there is strict deadlines for completing your given task. All students from different educational backgrounds are eligible to apply for the course and entrance tests

Night Life

You are not allowed to exit the hostel after 9pm which is later than most other college hostels. You are expected to return by 10pm max if you are outside. Most students to tend to stayback in college after hours to use facilities. Students tend to hangout a lot in nearby tea stalls, pani puri stalls, and other small shops. The locality is not ideally safe for girls especially as there are a lot of people outside who tend to make you uncomfortable. There have been instances of harrasers.

Honest unbiased review of symbiosis institute of design

Admission:

This college was one of the few colleges that had the exact course I wanted, with good placement opportunities and connections. It's also reputed in the design and law field. The website was well informed and the most striking part was their intake process. It is a three tiered system with a general test being the first, which has questions about general knowledge, design, logical reasoning and basic math, science, english etc. Once you clear the first phase, you move on to the next phase, that is the prpi test. They give you a certain task which you must perform in a certain time window and submit. For fashion your first option must be NIFT delhi mumbai bangalore. Try to get into one of them.if you are looking for private collages then SID is the best place for you.High fees but the hostel fecilities are really nice

The Library: Our colleges has a state of the art library that helps students find all design and web application related books there is
The Campus: it has a lot of art and graphitti and students are encouraged to paint and let your imagination flow on the walls with fun activities like wall waiting with collegemates every year for college fest.

Admission:

I chose this college over other colleges because of the Symbiosis connections to alumni and faculty who have connections to professionals in the business sand tech sector. Pune is also a city that encourages youth and creativity which gives designers the opportunity to display work with confidence. Symbiosis also has many other colleges so the intra college elective programs in which we can learn subjects such as economic and marketing as our elective subjects and external faculties from other symbiosis institutes are assigned to teach.

One of the reason for selecting symbiosis was, be it was close to my city. The admission exam start in the time of nov - oct there is one exam based on a course after that we get one task to do related to our stream and in the interview they will ask us question related to the course to see if we are actually eligible for this college or not. The syllabus of this institute was great

The people you meet, the friends you'll make and even the seniors, they are all amazing and sweet.
The events ofc, Symbi has a variety of events and functions to throughout the year and they're all sooo very fun

Admission:

• I had applied for NID, IIT IDC, MIT ADT, BITS, KIIT and NATA as well. I got accepted in all the pvt colleges I applied to except the govt colleges(NID & UCEED). I chose SID because of it's course structure and renowned reputation. • I couldn't make it to NID because I got AIR 258 and there are only 45 seats all over India for general students and I couldn't get IIT due to the reservation system :( • To get into SID, first you need to pass the SEED entrance exam which is of 60 marks and I had scored 43. Then after passing that you have to submit your Portfolio and prepare for a PRPI task and personal interview. After that there are 3 merit lists and you'll secure a seat there if you pass all the three.

SID is not just about academics but very much beyond than that which teaches you how to live your life in the best possible ways.
The best machinery, equipments, labs, studios, classrooms and facilities.

Dislikes

In my personal choice I would say that the infrastructure and the campus should have been much more better that it is for a design college.
To be very honest till now there's nothing to disliked as such.

Admission:

I applied for (UID)-United world of design (got into it, but firstly the crowd over there is too much and too hi-fi no internships or placement till date and too expensive in all aspects and not being worthy for that expense.) (NID)- National Institute of design (didn't got into as the first round itself i didn't clear) (NIFT)- National Institute of fashion technology (got into but i was much into product design than fashion or anything) For getting into SID eligibility is 10+2 in any stream, SID conducts it's own entrance examination called (SEED) and doesn't accepts any other. There are 3 rounds of this examination everything is in online mode first round is of 60 marks for 60 mins only MCQS all related to design, critical thinking, logical reasoning and general aptitude. If got selected in 1st round so in 2nd round you have to submit your portfolio and the task which they give you through mail after that there is an interview (student friendly) all the process is very handy and easy

The admission process was fairly simple. There are 3 rounds, the SEED test for which you can apply on the website, and then a studio test and interview. You get called on-campus for the last 2 rounds if you make it past the first.

No, Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID), Pune, does not offer a dedicated VFX (Visual Effects) course. However, they provide a 4-year B.Des in Animation Film Design, which includes training in 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, special effects, and production art.

The students can follow the steps given below to appear for SEED in order to be eligible for further admission process at Symbiosis Institute of Design.

Visit the official website of the institute https://www.sid.edu.in/.
Choose the “B.Des 2025 Registration Open” or “M.Des 2025 Registration Open” under the announcements section, on the middle left of the home page.
Click on Register for new user registration.
Read the instructions carefully and click on the “I Agree” button to accept the Terms and conditions.
Fill in the required details asked for.
Click on “Save and Continue” to change the password.
Choose the “Submit” button to register, and a registration ID will be displayed on the screen.
After successful registration, the student will get an email containing the registration ID and password.
After this, the student will be redirected to the payment portal.
The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
The payment mode will be Billdesk Payment Gateway.
