Honest unbiased review of symbiosis institute of design

Admission:

This college was one of the few colleges that had the exact course I wanted, with good placement opportunities and connections. It's also reputed in the design and law field. The website was well informed and the most striking part was their intake process. It is a three tiered system with a general test being the first, which has questions about general knowledge, design, logical reasoning and basic math, science, english etc. Once you clear the first phase, you move on to the next phase, that is the prpi test. They give you a certain task which you must perform in a certain time window and submit. In my case, I was given a music clip and was told to imagine a character and make a physical model according to the audio. Once you pass that, you move on to the interview and that's it!

I had applied for numerous colleges including cept, uid, mit, vit and many more. I did get accepted almost if not all colleges in this list. Yet I chose this college due to its place and course. The admission process in sid is by writing the seed exam. And once you pass that you have some drawing/modelling test along with interview

Symbiosis is said to be the top private institute for design, and most students who don't get into the national colleges apply here. This college also is the one with the lower fees compared to all other private colleges. The admission process includes an online multiple choice assessment. On clearing that you are then subject to a pr/pi round where in you are given a task which includes 2D and 3D modelling which you have to present to your interviewers along with your portfolio. You may be subject to questioning and there is strict deadlines for completing your given task. Life at SID

I was mainly confused between MIT pune and Symbiosis. And I got into both so i myself went to both the colleges to judge and come to a conclusion. Symbiosis might not have a huge campus like MIT but the quality of teaching, the faculy and the overall placements at Symbi are higher

I chose this college over other colleges because of the Symbiosis connections to alumni and faculty who have connections to professionals in the business sand tech sector. Pune is also a city that encourages youth and creativity which gives designers the opportunity to display work with confidence. Symbiosis also has many other colleges so the intra college elective programs in which we can learn subjects such as economic and marketing as our elective subjects and external faculties from other symbiosis institutes are assigned to teach.

One of the reason for selecting symbiosis was, be it was close to my city. The admission exam start in the time of nov - oct there is one exam based on a course after that we get one task to do related to our stream and in the interview they will ask us question related to the course to see if we are actually eligible for this college or not. • I had applied for NID, IIT IDC, MIT ADT, BITS, KIIT and NATA as well. I got accepted in all the pvt colleges I applied to except the govt colleges(NID & UCEED). I chose SID because of it's course structure and renowned reputation. • I couldn't make it to NID because I got AIR 258 and there are only 45 seats all over India for general students and I couldn't get IIT due to the reservation system :( • To get into SID, first you need to pass the SEED entrance exam which is of 60 marks and I had scored 43. Then after passing that you have to submit your Portfolio and prepare for a PRPI task and personal interview. After that there are 3 merit lists and you'll secure a seat there if you pass all the three.

I applied for (UID)-United world of design (got into it, but firstly the crowd over there is too much and too hi-fi no internships or placement till date and too expensive in all aspects and not being worthy for that expense.) (NID)- National Institute of design (didn't got into as the first round itself i didn't clear) (NIFT)- National Institute of fashion technology (got into but i was much into product design than fashion or anything) For getting into SID eligibility is 10+2 in any stream, SID conducts it's own entrance examination called (SEED) and doesn't accepts any other. There are 3 rounds of this examination everything is in online mode first round is of 60 marks for 60 mins only MCQS all related to design, critical thinking, logical reasoning and general aptitude. If got selected in 1st round so in 2nd round you have to submit your portfolio and the task which they give you through mail after that there is an interview (student friendly) all the process is very handy and easy

The admission process was fairly simple. There are 3 rounds, the SEED test for which you can apply on the website, and then a studio test and interview. You get called on-campus for the last 2 rounds if you make it past the first.
