Lady Brabourne College: Is it worth it?

Likes

The students are overall friendly and very peaceful.
The ambience of the college is good, and the infrastructure is also good.
The canteen is cheap, and the library is also good.

Dislikes

The washroom is really bad, stinks and we feel really uncomfortable.
Drinking water facilities are not available, although aqua guard is there, it is non functional.
Not a lot of books for geography is available in the library.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Geography includes a lot of sub departments, and has a lot of things to learn so we get a lot of knowledge on the current world issues as well. Geography as a subject is wonderful and has a rising career not just in India. The teaching method is mostly traditional on our college, and the frequency of exams is normal, like the internals and the semester exams, no class test is held. Sometimes syllabus is not completed, but mostly it is done.

Likes

Wide range of accessible books and journals
Eco friendly beautiful college campus with a medicinal garden maintained by botany department
Overall management and facilities specially scholarship availability

Course Curriculum Overview:

Bsc microbiology course has a wide range of applications. After studying this course u can get job in pharma clinical trial research fields. Under Calcutta University in NEP system no internal exams are taken..which is a disadvantage for students because they have to directly appear for the final University exam.

Likes

Faculty of our department is very helpful
Atmosphere of our campus is very friendly.
The seminars that take place often give me knowledge

Dislikes

Sometimes,the food is not up to the mark
I think the college hostel is too strict though I am not a hostellite
Nothing much I hate more,it's just only if it was a coed college

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I have opted for is Economics hons. It's very interesting and rational. The department of economics of our college is very rich. Students do not need tuitions if they come under the hands of such experienced and knowledgeable professors of our college.

Library facilities are really good, they provide places to study in college hours
We can freely use internet in computer for studying in library.
Campus is very clean with greenery. and they take initiatives to hold seminer on different topics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course followed at Lady Brabourne College is the course given by Calcutta University. Faculty teachers are great with Ph.D. The teaching methods are quite good, considering the projectors, and computes are used in teaching. My course is BSC in mathematics and it was quite difficult, the terms were with 5-6 months gap.

Experience at Kolkata's prestigious Lady Brabourne College

Likes

The hardship experiences with the administrative office that will teach you patience
The friends that I made there. It was one of the best parts of college.
The faculty here is very knowledgeable. Most of the professors are females, and all of them are experienced professionals

Dislikes

There could be more clubs and committees where one could explore their other interests

The faculty is very good and you will get to learn a lot. All of them have completed their master's and many of them are PhDs. All the exams were done timely. The exams were of moderate difficulty. If you study well, you can pass.

Review for my College : Lady Brabourne - An Excellent College for Women

Placement Experience:

From the end of the semesters, students become eligible for placements. One Company visited during my tenure, was Infosys. The highest Package offered was 2 lakhs per annum. My plans after getting the degree are that I will pursue my Master degree and then I will sit for the Competitive Exams.

LADY BRABOURNE COLLEGE - EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION

Placement Experience:

There are no campus placements. No companies visit the college and no as such highest and average package as per company and profiles offered are available. My plan after getting a degree is to go for further higher studies i.e. M.Sc. in biotechnology from out of West Bengal. Then after completing my M.Sc. I will further go for Ph.D.

Placement Experience:

Third-year students are eligible for campus placements though only 20% of the students sit in the company placement everyone has further plans to study. The highest package which comes in our company is 3 LPA. 5% of the students get placed.

Remarks:

The labs are well maintained and equipped with varying specimens.Living spaces,Canteen food,etc is clean and hygienic.The hostel is just beside the college and serves to be very convenient for the students. So first of all I have looked for the facilities and then I have looked for the faculties and have opted the college for my future.
