Remarks
1) I applied for Presidency University, Ashutosh College, Scottish Church College but I took admission at Lady Brabourne College because of its faculty and environment. The teachers of the college are very helpful in all aspects i.e. not only studies but also other problems. 2) I did not avail any quota for admission because the admission is purely based on merit. 3) The admission criteria are totally based on merit and without any entrance examination. Minimum qualification for B.Sc. Microbiology is minimum of 60% marks in 10+2 with a combination of science for general, 55% for OBC category, and 50% for SC/ST category. 4) On the counseling day, as the number of seats was limited to 30, so they made a list according to the marks received and called the names of the students who got admitted. This was how the first round admission took place and luckily I got a chance in the first round only.
Course Curriculum Overview
1) I was always very much interested in studying biology. So while filling out forms I instantly chose microbiology. This subject has a vast area of opportunities with huge success in India and abroad. So I chose this course. 2) In each semester there was a minimum of 30 students and there were at least 15 teachers in the department. 3) Each and everyone in the faculty has a minimum qualification of Ph.D. degree and their teaching methods are also innovative with videos and PowerPoint presentations. 4) There were particularly no term exams but we had internal exams which were once per semester and it was moderate to pass.
Internships Opportunities
There are no internship opportunities available at our college. There are summer projects but those are without stipend and any type of remuneration. Different subject-related projects are performed by the students and the teachers assist them in this. The types of projects that take place are very much important for one's CV.
Placement Experience
There are no campus placements. No companies visit the college and no as such highest and average package as per company and profiles offered are available. My plan after getting a degree is to go for further higher studies i.e. M.Sc. in biotechnology from out of West Bengal. Then after completing my M.Sc. I will further go for Ph.D.
Fees and Financial Aid
1) It has fixed fees and it is a government the fees are very much less. 2) There is no scholarship, financial assistance, and job with stipend. Since it is a government college there are government scholarships but for particular students with particular income criteria.
Campus Life
1) Tha annual fest conducted is Kaleidoscope and t is held in the month of March or April. 2) There are all types of books and journals available in the library which the students can issue at any time and the department also has its own library from where the students can read the book but cannot take it home. 3) There is a whiteboard, a projector. 4) No as such extra-curricular activities occur here.
