Excellent placements: bits pilani has a strong industry network and consistently records high placement percentages, with many students securing job offers before graduation.
The faculty at bits are superb and also pretty chill at the same time.
Merit cum need scholarship is given to the best students who are poor but good in studies.

Dislikes

Grading is difficult , papers are also difficult
It has very bad bathing water, causes skin and hair issues
I hate the fact that there are lot of stray animals even in our hostels

Likes

The campus is beautiful , the buildings conditions are also maintained.
Mess food is not like the government colleges. It maintains hygeine and taste is also nice.
The facilities for daily needs, non daily need and rare needs things are available inside the campus.

Dislikes

The distance of hostel to the labs is too much .
Mess normally makes the same food daily which makes us bored from eating food. Also there are no evening snacks available here.
The sports facilities are poor for children not in the professional teams. Mostly the grounds and courts are covered by the teams.

Placement Experience:

Placements ratio for mechanical branch is almost 100% with average of 16 lakh per annum ctc. The students are eligible in end of 4th year for on campus placements. However interships are done in 2nd and 3rd year which are mandatory. If not recieving a on campus placement i will be going in finance or tech field off campus.highest package last year was around 54lakh per annum . The placements data is not officially revealed by bits

Bits Pilani, it's Magic!

The campus is very beautiful and very scenic, most of the hostels are renovated and there is a lot of greenery
The hostels have a proper facility of water and other stuff required for living, rooms are decent
Mess food is very good with special items almost everyday

Dislikes

The weather is very bad, around 40 degree in summer
Bad gender ratio, only 1 girl for around 8 boys
some lab facilities aren't upto the mark

whatever we're learning today will be very useful for us in the future, we follow the course structure of MIT in usa, which is massachussetts institute of technology, boston, one of the leading colleges in technology, so our course structure is top notch.

Bits pilani the better choice

Likes

The clubs and departments here just don't gire on the basis of skills. They also see the personality of a person by conducting gds and personal interviews.
The social life here is probably the best a college can provide. Here everything runs on social interaction. The campus life is active all the time
The clubs here are not just for recreation and fun, some clubs genuinely help you acquire life skills such as understanding stock market,understanding entrepreneurship

Dislikes

The male female ratio is kind of messed up and that creates a little bit of bias towards girls in the campus

The aspects of my course (BE in computer science) that attracted me are that it is easier as compared to other branches like mechanical and electrical.The curriculum here basically forces you to go to a practice school to get real life experience in the industry which in my opinion is really great.The minor exams are almost every week , but the major exams occur once in 2 months.They are really difficult to score in

The startup culture of the college is really nice with top startup companies emerged from bits
The seniors and alumni are really helpful
The peers and teachers in the college are top notch

Dislikes

The hostel facilities can be improved even though the hostel fees is quite less but still

Placement Experience:

The placement of bits is really great. Bits gets us 2 internships by themselves depending upon your cgpa. Many of the students get ppo's from their interships. Almost 92% students got placed in pilani campus of bits last year in the time of recession with a great average and median package which shows the placement scenario is great.

No reservations is great as the crowd is from well to do families so the opportunity for networking and growth is immense
The course and grading here are rather rigorous and not easy to score as it's difficult to manage all the courses together
Campus Life is great and the greenery is awesome the sports facilities are state of the art and the lecture halls have ac , the faculty is also dedicated

Dislikes

Diversity is a bit less with less girls and less students from various backgrounds like sc st and OBC the college feels like it's a general caste centric college
Infrastructure at most places seemed a little outdated and the location of the college is also very very remote there is nothing in pilani no malls no cinemas nothing it's just the college
The courses grading sometimes is too hard for everyone and it can effect the future opportunities of students who wanna pursue masters abroad especially in phoenix branches

Course Curriculum Overview:

Electrical has both core and non core components hence you can apply for jobs in both fields and bits has a very good track record in recruitment for non core companies like McKinsey bain bcg Deloitte PWC ey etc come to recruitment on campus which is great also tech company like Google Microsoft etc come The course prepared well to prepare youbfor the real world and make you employable especially in core branches where subject knowledge matters more The course needs to be a little more linuent as the tutorial are conducted at 8 in morning everyday which is rather painful for all as they carry marks And exams like tuts and quizes are conducted regularly at short intervals quizes and are of low difficulty but the midsems and compres are high difficulty and require thorough knowledge

the peer group is top notch because of no reservation criteria and admission wholly on merit. the senior junior relations are also very good.
lectury hall complex, library, labs and other academic building are also well maintained.
hostel facilities are very good. rooms are spacious, washroom and corridors are regularly cleaned and mess food is hygenic.

Dislikes

some of the building are very old schooled and outdated. some renovation will be very good. like the main auditorium and library is not that good because they very contructed a long time ago.

Placement Experience:

there are two practise school. First after 2nd year and other one in 4th year. which is basically an internship program that guarantees you an internship. Students and sit in placements in 4th year and they can also go for intership in 4th year as well and hope to get a pre placement offer. The highest package offered was ?1.33 CPA by DaVinci derivatives and the average package ranges between 20-22 lakhs. Placement rate is about 91%.

College campus is beautiful and hostels are good enough
The cultural departments, clubs and many more
Sports clubs and teams, fests, sports tournments

Dislikes

Gender ratio is too low, other guys are too quick
Travel issues like any needed available in delhi like cinema theatre
No food delivery apps, badly missing hyderabad biryani

Placement Experience:

Your eligible right from the 6th semester on wards choosing placement cycle semster as 1 or 2 based on your choice. placement will be almost 100% if students have not taken placement. they will be choosing higher studies may be own startup/ family business

I really found this as a great platform to get over your shame and stage fear as the social interactions are really good
The faculty members are really proficient at their works and knowledge and quiet humble and always feels approachable

Dislikes

I also didnot like the size of campus as it is really huge and sometimes feels really tiring to be nomading at that hot summer day
I hate the fact that there are lot of stray animals even in our hostels

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum in the first year was very basic and mostly resembles the highschool curriculum apart from the fact that even though the topic is same but the concepts are deeper and more vast. I feel the online availability of the courses and the slides have made the curriculum complete as now there is no further need to get stuck in case of missing a class

BITS Pilani - it’s Truly magic

Campus life is really vibrant and there is always something going on in campus
Placements and internships opportunities are comparable to top IITs

Dislikes

Fees is too high compared to other TIER 1 colleges
Situated in a rural area and hence life outside campus is non existent

Placement Experience:

There are mainly three ways of getting placed in BITS .. first is through getting a summer internship and then converting it into a PPO ... second is sitting for placements and bagging a placement in a company... other than these two boys has a special practice school program in which big companies like google microsoft hire interns from our colleges for 1 semester and gives them a handsome stipend for that period as well .. this internship also can turn into a full time offer ... these are the 3 main ways to get placed . All the major companies of every sector visits the campus . Average package offered is 23-24 lakhs and highest domestic package is generally 75-80 lakhs ...almost all the students who wish to get a job get a job . My plan after graduation is to pursue MBA

Firstly, it was the peer group. Bits Pilani has a wonderful peer group which helps during the college and also after college. The Bits alumni network is unmatched and the quality it brings is outstanding.
The clubs at Bits pilani is also a remarkable thing, the clubs here at bits teach you a lot whether it be coding or finance or cybersecurity, everything is to notch.
I liked the course curriculum and faculties of bits, it was designed to be flexible for a student where one can focus on his own skills alongwith the academics

Dislikes

I disliked the fact that there is 0 percent attendance. There should be a bare minimum percentage of attendance like 20-30 percent so students actively participate in classes.
The fees is hiking every year which is not a good thing, yeah it's a private college but making the fees higher can affect the quality of students coming to bits. Some deserving candidates might miss it coz of financial status.
Some students in bits are very rich and they waste a lot of food and stuff during birthdays and parties at eateries in bits. This thing can be checked and stopped immediately

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements starting from the 4th year. You get an option to opt a semester for internship in 4th year and the other semester becomes your placement semester. Good known companies visit our campus and we proudly present a good placement rate every year including the recession time. My plan is to work in an IT firm after my college degree. 90-95 percent students get placed by the end of cycle, rest go for masters.

BITS WILP is a two-year postgraduate level course, in which 15 specializations are offered by the university. It is a degree course that is completed mainly on weekends to enable students and professionals to gain a full-time degree course while continuing their professional pursuits.

Pros

You get associated with the BITS tag
You can do your PG alongside working
The course is rather easy and with the right dedication you can complete it in 2 yrs.
The syllabus is the same for both on and off-campus students

Cons

You won’t be able to sit for PG campus recruitment
Not many companies consider this degree valuable and thus makes it is difficult to land a job.
The admission criteria are rather flexible thus the peer pool is not very filtered.
Most of the subjects are from bachelors and lack relevance and rigor
There is no visible difference in the knowledge base of the students.
The classes are not conducted by the original BITS faculty.

In all, I think the cons overshadow the pros and don’t deem this course a very wise decision.

Is BITS Pilani "Pilani campus" better than IIT Roorkee or IIT Guwahati?

In my opinion, both BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee are in the same league while IIT Guwahati is a bit inferior to them. Let’s discuss further on the basis of some very common aspects

Core subjects: BITS Pilani does not focus on core subjects and the research culture is also very inactive. This is because of the extremely laid-back curriculum and attendance policy. The research opportunities offered are very less in comparison to IITs
Placements: In this aspect, BITS Pilani definitely fairs better with its flagship Practice School program. Students of this program receive many PPOs from top companies during internships arranged by the college itself.
Campus life: IMHO BITS offers the best campus life owing to the student-driven culture and great academic flexibility.
Performance: The institutes can be evaluated on the basis of the performance of their students in various entrance exams. IIT Roorkee students score the best in GATE, UPSC, etc. while BITS Pilani scores well in CAT, GMAT, and GRE.
Peer groups: The average student quality of both the institutes is somewhat similar with IIT Roorkee giving a slight edge to BITS Pilani in this aspect.

Both the colleges have their own strengths and weaknesses and comparing them is illogical. I would say that if you are genuinely interested in CSE, then Pilani will be better for you than Roorkee. But if you aren’t certain of your area of interest then choose IIT Roorkee for its IIT tag.
