Likes
- The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
- Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
- The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.
Dislikes
- I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
- Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
- Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

- Clubs and societies are quite beneficial.
- Thapar has great infrastructure, and sports facilities.
- Cos area has quite good food outlets , best one is pizza nation.

- Thapar food fest, it was waste of money and artist who had to come in fest , rejected last minute.
- The selection process to tech societies is quite handful, there are too many rounds and even after interview process , feedback is not given.
- Checking of papers is very casual, generally we need to see papers if all questions are marked
Course Curriculum Overview:
I chose this course because I believe it had a lot of benefits in future. And the job opportunities are more with the computer. In the first semester, we were given 5 subjects. Which includes fit applied physics ,mathematics, manufacturing processes ,engineering drawing and.
Professional communication.

- I like the atmosphere here is so decent and good for someone who is willing to achieve greater heights
- I like faculty very much as all the teachers are highly educated and guide alot to achieve our dreams
- I like the infrastructure, my college spent alot on infrastructure,huge buildings library,lakes everything is in our college
Dislikes
- Well there is nothing to dislike but I really don't like the time table and 8 am lectures
- I don't like the campus timings it's 8:00 it's too early
- I also don't like the hostel timings as it's 8;30 which is way more early for a grown up
Placement Experience:
The placement of my college is very nice .it is known for its placement. Variety of companies like Deloitte, Google , Microsoft, jp Morgan visit thapar every year.the highest package is 55 lacs and avg is around 11-12 for computer branches. The student need to maintain atleast 8+ cgpa and internship in third year . My plans after the degree is to take job and live peacefully

- Campus infrastructure is pretty nice. Skywalk and nirvana being my favourite.
- Management is pretty well done. It’s easy to get things done.
- Food and hostels are very nice and affordable.
Dislikes
- Fees is pretty high. Scholarship programs are limited.
- Hostel in time is very rigid. It should be extended.
- Faculties are a bit non serious. They should be looked upon.
Placement Experience:
Placements were decent until last year. This year onwards, because of recession, fewer companies have been visiting. It's a bit saddening to see a downfall in the placement percentage. Hopefully the situation gets better.

- the crowd here is not very good though many good people are there
- the teachers are not up to tha par some teachers just read the slides and go
- i disliked the overall fees and expenses

the placement record is very good all branch students get placed around 90 percent placement rate the average package is very good 15 lpa for copmuter branches the highest package is around 55 lpa .

- Skywalk(a place to hangout with your friends where cool breezes flow
- Nirvana, central Park with fountains and a good place to hang out and talk with your friends where you can enjoy the nature
- Library(thapar has one of the biggest libraries and it provides all the facilities and books)
Dislikes
- Strictness: too many Useless rules like you have to come back in the hostel at 8:30. You can’t roam the campus after 8:30 PM. You can only order deliver food before 11 PM
- They have restricted so many areas and Hostel rooms which are made earlier could be renovated because all the walls have Have been become old and paint is falling off
Course Curriculum Overview:
I have ece branch, as this branch has scope in both private and government sectors i chose this course
It also provides good placements in the future
All the faculty is required to have done phd to be a professor in thapar
The faculty is quite nice
Teaching was also good
In one class there's about 100-150 students and single professor to teach them
There are mid semester and end semester exams
And quizes and sessionals are taken before mst and est
The passing criteria is pretty simple
You have to get 18 marks out of 70 (in combined est and mst ) and 35/100(combing sessional/quizes+lab evaluation +est+mst)
Term exams are not very difficult

- i loved the college life in general it is nice
- the annual fest and other events thtoughout the year
- the faculty and their qualifications

- the academic calender is planned very last min
- the attendance and detention lists are not shown at proper time
- nothing more to hate really about this college

this course best suited my interest level. there is one lecturer per 60 students . all the faculty is highly qualified and have phd degrees. the term exams are always held timely and are moderate in difficulty

- Good placement support: The college placement cell puts a lots of efforts to attract good companies to the college.
- Good alumni network: The college has alumni who are working at various reputed companies, which helps in networking.

- High fees: The college course fees is quite high compared to other colleges.
Placement Experience:
The college offers: 2 month summer internship opportunities, 6 month winter internship opportunities and full time placement opportunities oncampus. Many reputed names including DE Shaw, Arcesium, Intuit, Salesforce, Cisco etc visit the campus oncampus to hire the students. Greater than 98% students are placed oncampus, barring those who go for futher studies or start their own startup.

- The classes are very interactive and the teachers responsive.
- The campus is huge and has many shops inside the campus itself so decreases the need to travel outside the campus.
- The labs are well equipped and can be used for personal projects also.
Dislikes
- Due to the age of the institute, some amenities are quite old and still not replaced/repaired.
- There are issues with wifi connections in hostels although it is being mended currently.
Placement Experience:
I have not yet availed any of these facilities but the college does offer placements as well as internships. Companies like NXP, Bajaj, GoldmanSachs, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, JP Morgan, etc do regularly visit each year.

- Placement is decent so there is no need to worry avoiding future if you are a little focused.

- The coding environment is not good in our college it could be better.
- Night restrictions make the campus life at night boring.

From 7th semester you can sit in placements but for internship you sit from 4th semester itself. There are lot of companies that visit our college including Apple,Goo,zomato,IBM ,JP morgan and chase ,BNY ,Barclays ,texas instruments, Bajaj and many more in my branch.80% students get placed in our branch.Some people go for further studies or in research some stick to the jop opportunities they have.

- The social life at Patiala overall is quiet good.
Dislikes
- Obviously the 75% attendance system is little tiring.
- At times few semester can be overwhelming.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.
Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.
However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.
Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University offers a good MCA program. The institute has a brilliant MCA faculty base. It offers good learning resources, and laboratory facilities to meet the requirement of students.
Thapar University placement highlights show the average CTC offered to MCA students is around INR 7 LPA. While the highest CTC offered is around INR 8 LPA. TCS, Infosys, and Fidelity are among the major recruiters in the placement drive.
