RGNUL Important Dates FAQs

Ques. Can a candidate apply in a later merit list round if they miss an earlier one?

Ans. Yes, RGNUL allows candidates to participate in subsequent merit list rounds if they were not allocated a seat earlier or chose to wait. However, availability decreases with each round, so it is advisable to confirm admission as early as possible. Participation in later rounds also requires strict adherence to the corresponding fee payment deadlines to secure admission.

Ques. Is there any flexibility if a student cannot pay the fee due to unavoidable circumstances?

Ans. RGNUL generally requires strict adherence to deadlines, but in rare cases like medical emergencies or other serious issues, candidates may request consideration through official communication with the admissions office. Such requests are handled on a case-by-case basis, and documentation is often required. Proactive communication is key in these situations.

RGNUL Courses and Fees FAQs

Ques. Are there additional charges apart from tuition fees?

Ans. Yes. Apart from tuition fees, all students at RGNUL must pay other charges such as admission fees, amenities fee, campus development fund, examination fee, library fee, hostel rent (if staying on campus), and refundable security deposits, which are listed separately in the official fee schedule. These recurring and one‑time charges add to the total cost of attendance and should be factored in when planning finances.

Ques. Is there a different fee structure for NRI or international students?

Ans. Yes. RGNUL charges higher fees for NRI/Foreign National candidates compared to Indian students. For example, the first‑semester university fee for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) NRI/Foreign Nationals is INR 3,96,742, while it is INR 1,92,500 for Indian students. Similarly, for LL.M., NRI/Foreign Nationals pay around INR 2,76,204 for the first semester versus INR 1,58,000 for Indian students. RGNUL Admission FAQs

Ques. Can a student withdraw from admission after confirming their seat?

Ans. Yes, RGNUL allows students to withdraw after confirming admission, but the refund of fees depends on the timing of withdrawal and the university’s official refund policy. Generally, partial refund of the Admission Confirmation Fee may be granted if withdrawal occurs before the start of classes, whereas later withdrawals may result in complete forfeiture. Students considering withdrawal should consult the official guidelines and communicate with the admissions office to understand the exact financial implications, ensuring a smooth exit without unnecessary loss.

Ques. What should students do if they face issues with document verification or discrepancies?

Ans. If students encounter issues during document verification, such as mismatched details, missing certificates, or errors in submitted documents, they should immediately contact the admissions office with proper proof. The university usually provides a window to rectify such issues, but delays can affect seat confirmation. Maintaining clear communication, keeping scanned copies of all submissions, and addressing discrepancies proactively can prevent rejection of the application or loss of admission.

RGNUL Cutoff FAQs

Ques. Are NRI and foreign candidates subject to the same cutoffs?

Ans. No, NRI and foreign candidates have a separate cutoff system, often based on CLAT scores or equivalent qualifications. Since the seat pool for NRIs is limited and fees are higher, competition is intense. For example, an NRI candidate may need to secure a rank within the top 1,500–2,000 nationally to be considered for admission in early rounds. Understanding this distinction helps candidates plan finances and documentation accordingly.

Ques. How do exam difficulty and applicant pool size influence cutoffs?

Ans. CLAT exam difficulty and the number of applicants each year directly influence cutoff ranks. A tougher paper may push cutoffs higher (meaning only candidates with better ranks secure admission), while a larger applicant pool increases competition, especially for All India seats. Observing annual trends can help candidates estimate safe rank ranges and prepare for strategic participation in merit list rounds.

RGNUL Placement FAQs

Ques. Are placement opportunities only limited to law firms?

Ans. No. While law firms are a major recruiter, students also secure positions in corporate legal departments, consulting firms, banks, financial institutions, NGOs, research organizations, and government bodies. The university’s placement cell ensures a diverse pool of recruiters to match students’ varying career interests beyond traditional law practice.

Ques. Does RGNUL provide any placement training or career guidance?

Ans. Yes. The university conducts workshops, mock interviews, skill development sessions, resume reviews, and mentorship programs to prepare students for interviews and professional roles. Students are guided on professional etiquette, communication, analytical skills, and legal drafting to improve employability. This training significantly enhances performance in both on-campus and off-campus recruitment processes.

Here's what Raghuvendra has to say about the college.

Placement provided by the college , average and highest package

The students become eligible for placement from 8th semester onwards All the major law firms like AZB, Surana and Surana visited the campus for placement The highest package secured in 2024 is around 16 Lakh CTC and average package aroung 10 Lakh. Around 10 percent students get placed out of each outgoing batch I plan for competitive examinations

Hostel rooms are good with double occupancy till 3rd year and single occupancy for 4th and 5th year. The mess is operated by a private contractor. There have been frequent complaints about the quality of mess food relating to hygiene as well as taste.

Student views on the faculty

The professors are of a mix lot. Some are exceptional and some are incompetent. The nature of curriculum differs according to the professor. As a whole the faculty is of satisfactory competence barring some.

Admission process of the college

I applied for various NLUS namely NLSIU Banglore and NALSAR Kolkata. I could not get through because my rank was not good enough The admission process was smooth and is standard across all the Nlus which admit student through the CLAT and Consortium of Nlus

It is a no bran question as CLAT is the only way to qualify for NLUs. I took a year off to prepare for CLAT and NLUs is what I was targetting and I consider myself lucky to be studying in NLUs. Ranks decide which NLU you can get and till the first semester as per ranks upgrades can happen depending upon the availability of the seats.

Admission in our college or NLUs in India are based on CLAT scores. Since our college is 9th ranked so students between 1000-1500 ranks in general category are the ones who opt for our college. Being in top 2000 is also an ask and for a top college like RGNUL, it will ask such scores to maintain the standard and ranking for which it has fought so hard.

The choosing of RGNUL, was the result of CLAT examination counselling, as after taking CLAT, based on my rank I was having the opportunity to select the RGNUL or NLU Patna, but RGNUL was chosen by me because of its previous establishment and more placement opportunities in comparison to the NLU Patna. Though RGNUL cannot be said a dream college of mine, because I wanted to be admitted to NLU Bhopal, which was close to my house, due to insufficient CLAT Rank I was not able to be admitted at NLU Bhopal. Talking about the admission process at RGNUL the same is done through the CLAT counselling process where after giving the National Level entrance exam of CLAT, you are allotted various NLU's based on your rank and on the same lines RGNUL is allotted to the students nationally based on their specific rank
