University of Science and Technology Meghalaya

Likes

Campus location. The university campus is located on hills of Meghalaya. The university has used all the possible resources to enhance the beauty and the greenery.
Library facilities. The university provides 24/7 library facilities for hostel wards and for day scholars it is till 7 pm
Events. University administration always organises different events like some competition, guest lacture, music concert and trip and all.

Dislikes

Placement. There is no placement at my time but recently I heard that few microbiology students are placed in good company. Few students from MBA department also get placed in companies like ITC and all.
Laboratory. The laboratory facilities is very poor. Their is no proper instruments and those who were there was not working properly. It was difficult to do practicals in laboratory.
Food. The quality of food inside the campus is very bad and totally unhygienic. Even few students have found cockroach, lizard and even rat in their food.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Biotechnology is very new field and specially in India and it required many investment like different lab instruments and mechanics. USTM was running the course like B. Sc. Biotechnology, M. Sc. Biotechnology Ph. D and all but they didn't have that many resources.

Life at USTM

Likes

The campus is located in the top of a hill so it’s very much green and you get to enjoy the environment and nature
The staff and all the faculty members are very much friendly and kind hearted
University provides us facilities for various things like gym, park, nursery, playground, hoririding club etc

Dislikes

You get very less holidays and attendance is must
The canteen serves good food but not UPTO the mark
In the administration office they always makes you wait for hours where you can’t wait because you can’t miss any classes as well

Course Curriculum Overview:

Pharmaceutical science is one of the most interesting fields of today's world, where you can discover, learn and get to experience a lot of new things which you never gave importance to but those things are very much needed in our day to day life only to stay healthy and to keep our surrounding healthy as well.

Leniency with attendance. attendance was not that strictly maintained yet its not preferred to have lowest attendance otherwise we wont be able to give end semester examination.
The environment of the University is very clean,the institution is built in a peaceful places built
More focus on academics,focus is being given more on academics than in other co-curricular activites which is good.

Dislikes

Less attention by the teachers with the individual progress of each student
there should be atleast 2 good events held at the university for the refreshment of the students
Travel and network issues are prevalent,its quite difficult for students to travel on their own

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is beneficial for me as i aspire to become a Clinical Psychologist. The course is vast and covers every portion needed right from history to current relevance of the topics. I enjoy studying it and well,its a growing field and for that,its quite helpful

Placement Experience:

Final placement starts at the time of course end means last semester, after the exam we can go for the jobs if we get selected. No everyone get placement as the companies select according to the skills and performance in IA around 25% gets the placement, college try to get more companies so that students get more opportunities.banks and corporate are the most preferred company as they are related to our course.

We didn’t get placements so I have almost zero idea regarding placements availability. All I know is that placements were only for BBA and MBA students. Placement offers came from Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore etc.

My 6 months in USTM as of now

Likes

Teachers are friendly and helpful and try their level best to make students understand.
Programs conducted here in USTM are colourful and joyful compared to my previous schools and colleges
Facilities are provided to students as promised in the prospectus

Dislikes

The hostel management needs a reform especially hostel B due to unhygienic food and rooms.
The presence of Assamese language in classes makes others who don't understand it uncomfortable.
Young and intelligent but inexperienced teachers takes classes here in my course.

Placement Experience:

Placements here which I can remember very well is SunPharma. Alot of our seniors have got placement here but I can't remember the exact numbers. The numbers of companies which visited was about 7-11 if not mistaken. My plans after Bpharm is trying for drug inspector in my home district it I can and if not then working in an industry is better.

I Like about the college is Faculties are very good in teaching

Sometimes they act like universities are too strict in going out

Placement Experience:

Any student who are in the last year of their perspective course they are eligible for any campus placement. There are various companies like star cement. Etc. they respect is of any placement, minimum eight lakhs any student who are getting 80 percentage? placement after my degree, I will try for government job

The faculty are good and i i’m happy to enjoy their lectures .
I liked the functional programs those are held every year in our university
Besides I personally liked the campus as it is in hilly area .

Dislikes

Their are some issues like as it is in hilly area we faces some issues to walk around the campus

Placement Experience:

According to the management 95% of students from CSE after Graduation get their placement by the USTM and the salary will be like 20k to 30k depending on your skills .They also provide certain companies to apply for job .

Life in Ustm uni

Likes

The compass is huge and it is friendly nature. It has the best gymnasium and the playground is also nice and it has horse track where you can do horse riding and it is mostly surrounded by trees and nature.
The teachers and difficulty members are very kind in nature. They are very friendly approachable and also helps you with many things and gives you support.
The canteen excellent, and they can variety of items in different types of stores Where you can eat or purchase accessories as per needed

Dislikes

Useless, or should I say few opportunity for internship, whether it’s government or non government
The admission fees, and the hostel fees are highly over price
The location is nice, but for some student, it is very hard because it’s on a different state and some has to travel more than 30 km. Some travel more than hundred kilometres and it’s uphill so during rainy season the roads flood

Course Curriculum Overview:

so the reason why I choose PBA is because it offers a lot of job opportunities in fields of management, finance, and banking. Sometimes the exam time fixed by the department clashes with other department because in ustm have to choose a subject from other department to as minor subject, also known as SVS or IDMJ

Likes

The infrastructure of the college that is in the hills
Attendance system is good because it’s strict
Course fees is affordable compared to other universities

Dislikes

The partiality towards certain religion can be seen
Faculties are not that experienced as some of them are directly given job after graduation from the college itself
There are no holidays for some certain festivals

Course Curriculum Overview:

The infrastructure of the college influenced me to choose. There are practicals and internships which is good. Teaching methods need to be improved. Timing of exams after 6 months and it is fair for everyone.
