IIT ISM Review with specialization in Petroleum

Likes

Exposure is really good in this college. There are various competitions and guest talks from various renowned profesionals.
The senior junior interactoin is really good and senior helps a lot in academic as well as co curricular
The proffesors are truly supporting and help a lot in the internship and pllacements.

Dislikes

The condition of Hostel is a bit worse.
The admin is really strict and is difficult to get a NOC

Placement Experience:

The placements are good as of now from 1200 students 650 are placed of Btech. Of petroleum of 80 students 68 are placed. Companies which came for petro are Exxonmobil, SLB, ONGC, Reliance, Essar, Rystard Energy.

Likes

The course structure for earth sciences branches set the industry benchmark
The sports facilities are well equipped and we have coaches to train u for inter IIT
And its an IIT so better than rest of the places. U get an essence of what it is the moment u enter the campus

Dislikes

There are only 20% girls overall, which makes the boy girl ratio high
The mess is good for nothing you have to spend a lot to sustain urself
The city outside has fancy restaurants and theatres but there is also vibes of a countryside place

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is comprehensive and balnces the theoretical and practical knowledge for the students. With numerous industrial tours and hand on real world projects the growth one can expect in his domain is impressive

The college location was good. Everything was easily accessible from the college
Fests were really great in our college. The college would get all lit up, everyone become active and it was the best part
The bonds that yoh will make here will last forever

Dislikes

Some faculties were a bit baised, but it was good
The hostel rooms were not that great and it was not maintained properly
Entry restrictions on hostel. They had entry restrictions on hostels itself

Placement Experience:

Placements are pretty decent.I would not say everyone gets placed, but almost everyone gets placed.If you are sincere from beginning, you are sure to make it and perform well in the intern and placement season

My perspective

Likes

Ism senior junior culture, giving NPB and finding out their details and bonding
There clubs and societies where all I managed by students so this gives responsibilities to Students
People across the nation come there which brings lots of exposure

Dislikes

There academic that they provide lots of pressure in academics
First year is more hectic compared to other years
There are lots of Maddu people which disconnect conversation

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is quite irrelevant for the first year that other branches students like environmental, petro, Mineral and Metallurgy students do not have their core subjects which are good but I think starting from 1 year will be good

Telling about My college

Likes

Greenery of campus, senior junior interaction scenario and library

Dislikes

Some more sanitation needs to be required and there is a lot of pressure for studies

Placement Experience:

Placements of college are quite good specifically in Petroleum computer science, electronics and communication and some more branches, more than 70 percent students get placed and it matters branch wise too

An overview of IIT ISM Dhanbad

Likes

Great infrastructure, and better opportunities for research purposes.
Large alumni group due to being an old college.
Experienced faculty members to better guide the students.

Dislikes

The location of the college is not so good.

If you are getting into the Petroleum Engineering branch there is no need to worry about the placements. A lot of private companies as well as PSU's show up in the college and if you have a decent CGPA you will have no issues in getting placed.

ABOUT IIT(ISM) DHANBAD

Likes

i liked the campus and the relationship which we have with our seniors and juniors
apart from academics we have many other great opputunities
our student activity centre where we play sports everyday

Dislikes

initially you will have to follow certain rules in pretext of what they call as culture
you have to maintain a certain level of discipline with seniors
you will have to study the subjects on your own

Placement Experience:

placements are good for all branches but they are exceptionally good for branches like petroleum engineering, and mining, and the intern history is good, and many opportunities in the non-core sector. nearly 70% of students get placed.

IIT ISM DHANBAD at its best.

Likes

The campus is beautiful with so much greenery.
The newly built hostel is great and probably the best.
The faculties are great and highly skilled.

Dislikes

The campus in-time at night should be increased .
The campus is situated at a place where nothing is great outisde the campus.
The boys to girls ratio should be increased.

Placement Experience:

Students from the 8th semester get eligible for placements, however right from the start of the 5th semester, they can go for intern and then try for pre-placement offers. There are 150+ companies visiting the campus for every branch and almost every company gives a job offer. The highest package is something around 60 lpa with a average package around 20-25 lpa. Students from every branch get decent placement. To go for a government job.

one of the top engineering institutes in India. It has a strong academic reputation and its graduates are highly sought-after by employers.
vibrant student life with a variety of clubs and societies. This provides students with opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities and to meet new people.
strong alumni network that can help students find jobs and get advice on their careers.

Dislikes

IIT ISM Dhanbad is a very competitive institute. This can be stressful for students who are not used to academic pressure.
cost of living in Dhanbad is relatively high. This can be a financial burden for students who are not from wealthy families.
located in Dhanbad, which is a remote city in eastern India. This can be a challenge for students who are not used to living in a small town.

Placement Experience:

The placement record of IIT ISM Dhanbad is very good. In the 2023 placement season, 1,082 students out of 1,154 registered students were placed. The highest salary package offered was INR 56 LPA and the average salary package was INR 16.98 LPA.

I love senior junior interaction in this college.
Overall placement of this college is very good.
Fest time in this college is very enjoyable moment.

Dislikes

Most disliking period in this college is exam period.
Girls Hostel is very far away from each boys hostel.

After the 7th SEMESTER college placement gets started this year 234 PPOs were offered. A total of 1154 job offers were distributed among the 1082 students placed. in addition to this, 11 international offers were made.
