IIT ISM Review with specialization in Petroleum

Our course curriculum includes a bit of traditional concepts which are quite replaced with new technologies. But yeah it is good as it is important to understand the basics first. There is timely conduction of guest talks to keep the students updated with the industry standards.

There are a good set of SDE internships as compared to core branches. they have a package of around 100000 for SDE and for core it is around 50000. The projects are the major role players in the internship.

The placements are good as of now from 1200 students 650 are placed of Btech. Of petroleum of 80 students 68 are placed. Companies which came for petro are Exxonmobil, SLB, ONGC, Reliance, Essar, Rystard Energy.

I was from the general category so i have to submit the overall fees structure. But there are allowances for the other categories like the SC and ST do not have to pay any fees for the college, they just only need to pay for the hostel fees which is 15000. There are also other allowances for the students whose income is less than 5LPA then they had to pay 66.6% of the tution fees of 100000. Students with yearly income of less than 100000 do not have to pay for the tution fees.

There is one cultural fest SRIJAN on the end of JAN and a technical fest around October CONCETTO. Our library is one of the largest in asia. It has a good content of books of various branches and genres. The classrooms are slowly converting into smart classes as the digital board is introduced into it. Sports cultire is really good including squash, cricket, football, lawn tenis, tables tenis, gym ,etc. There are also a good range of clube for each Singing, dancing, robotics, designning, hacking, developments.

The room is a single bed with a table, chair, tubelight, fan, cupboard and two switches. the meal quality is of average type. there are three time of meal served with a snack in the evening. Each day the breakfast, lunch, dinner is different.

This college was near to my home so i was quite happy and moreover i was sure about that i did not wanted to go on SDE profiles so for other branch PETROLEUM was the best fit. Our admission was through JOSAA councelling. I would have opted kharagpur Naval architecture if this course was not alooted.

For my department in our batch we have 80 class strength and the professors are 17. The faculties are really experienced and a eager to help the students in academic as well as internship and placements. For each course we have 100 marks 30 mid sem 50 end sem and two quizes for 10 each.

The night life is not so good as most of the food outlets are closed around 11 pm. there is entry time for girls in the hostel of 11:59 pm and as of boys there is no time. But it is mandatory to enter the campus before 10 pm. there are few of hangout places in the garden and fields.
