- Teaching here is top notch , the faculty is highly experienced and there are teaching assisstents too which help us in understanding the concepts really well
- Placements of iit mandi are great and more than 400 companies including top companies like amazon, google, microsoft etc.
- Good thing is that college provides scholarship for economically backward students .
Dislikes
- There is a lack of proper course layout, examination systems and management
- Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . i think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .
- Faculty: some faculty are very rude to students and grading is relatively tough.

The course curriculum is relevant due to its focus on practical projects and case studies, which influenced my choice. It adequately prepares for real-world applications but could benefit from more industry collaborations. Improvements could include more interactive sessions and up-to-date content to match industry trends. Exams are well-timed but could be more challenging.

- The campus of IIT Mandi is located in the scenic himalayan region, providing a very calm and soothing environment and also the campus is known for its excellent academic programs
- The campus provides you a separate work space called as catalyst if you want to work on your startup or collab with different brands/companies
- The campus has a good track record of placements with top MNCs visiting the campus for placement and internship opportunities
Dislikes
- The students of IIT Mandi find the remote location of the campus a drawback in terms of accessibilty, amenities and facilities available around the campus
- Being a relatively new IIT and considering its remote location, the infrastructure at IIT-mandi is lacking behind compared to other same generation or older IITs
- Students from low altitude regions may find it difficult to adapt to the weather and environment of the himalayan region
Placement Experience:
The placements are provided by college on campus, students in btech 4th year and mtech 2nd year are eligible for campus placements.
In the current year placements are not so good due to recession
Some of the top MNCs like google, amazon, microsoft, adobe and many more visit the campus for placements every year, I dont have access to exact placement records, but the placement percentage last year was around 95-100%, but this year its very less around 50-60% currently.
This years highest package is 1.25 crore this year and the average is yet to be disclosed, last year the average was around 25 LPA and almost all of the students got placed.
If I get a good offer for placements then I will go for it, if not then I will pursue further studies in masters.

What is your review of Faculty Of IIT Mandi?

I have gone through the faculty profile given on the official website of IIT Mandi. It looks similar to that of all newly established IITs, except for IIT Gn and IIT H, which are better than the others.
One of my friends is also a student of the Mechanical branch at IIT Mandi. Most of the faculty members in the Mechanical branch are married couples. One of them got a job here and after that, they recommended their spouses.
In terms of research, the branch is not that good. Most of the faculties just mug up a research paper and publish a new one. One of the faculties became associate by doing the same. If you want to pursue higher studies in Mechanical, then don’t choose IIT Mandi.
