Teaching here is top notch , the faculty is highly experienced and there are teaching assisstents too which help us in understanding the concepts really well
Placements of iit mandi are great and more than 400 companies including top companies like amazon, google, microsoft etc.
Good thing is that college provides scholarship for economically backward students .

Dislikes

There is a lack of proper course layout, examination systems and management
Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . i think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .
Faculty: some faculty are very rude to students and grading is relatively tough.

A glimpse of MBA in the mountains.

Likes

The campus is beautiful with many places nearby to explore.
The food quality in the mess if good compared to other colleges
The course of MBA with a specialization in DS and AI gives an unique opportunity

Dislikes

The academic calendar and timetable are often not followed rigorously
The placement scenario is not very clear yet
There is a lack of proper course layout, examination systems and management

Placement Experience:

Students become eligilbe for the placements after the completion of 2nd semester. Since the course started in 2022, the first batch is yet to graduate and official placement records have not been released. However, some offers from Japan have been made. In India, students have been offered PPO from MaxLife and Yum Brands. Some other companies that came for placement are Axtria and FIITJEE.

Scaling the heights at IIT Mandi

Likes

Supportive faculty: faculty are very supportive and are very good at teaching.
Infrastructure is very fascinating especially considering the location of the college.
Location of the college is very beautiful.

Dislikes

Remote location. It very tricky to reach because of its not so good connectivity to major cities like Chandigarh and Delhi.

IiT Mandi experience

Likes

Atmosphere and helping nature of people around us.
Education and events that are conducted according for every season
Clubs and individuality, freedeom, decision making given to a student

Dislikes

Culture around locality states and landslides
Landslides and weather.It is sunny and suddenly it starts to rain.
Located on mountains it is good and peaceful atmosphere but mostly dangerous roads

Placement Experience:

As IIT have very much value in the society every one of them can easily survive in the present society.in IITs mostly entrepreneurships are encouraged more than placements and many others go abroad for higher studies.

I like in our college is most the sports section .
I like in our college is that the faculty which are very close to us
I like our college that is the most of the members are coming from different places and thery are becoming a good friends

I dislike in our college is that fest will be held very less
I dislike in our college that most nature we don't know when rain or when coldd
I dislike in our college is that location we are unable to walk

I am interested in electrical and enjoy in doing electrical problems and connecting to the circuits and we are having mid sem, quizzes and end sem and some courses having presentation to check the communication skills of students

Campus Life at IIT

Campus life that is the beauty of the campus.

Dislikes

Rules and regulations are more there which we must follow there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Faculty members are quite helpful in nature. Professors are much qualified and know a lot about the particular subject. We had our mid term exam in October. And now we will be having our end semester exams in December.

placements at iit mandi are amazing and the highest among all second-gen iits. more than 400 companies visit our campus including companies like Amazon, google, etc. The highest package was 1.2 cr while the average package was 28 lakh.

IIT Mandi gives best exposure to Development Studies

Likes

The location of the campus and specially weather conditions.
It's most beautiful IIT/ college of India for sure.
Multidisciplinary nature of course gives freedom.

Dislikes

Travelling to come to the campus is challenging.
Hostel room are sharing basis for second year also.
No train service is there nearby. Nearest popular railway station is Chandigarh.

Most of the students go for their status after their Master that is Ph.D. The best students were interested in jobs just after their Master they sit for placement. Aim Premji Foundation, NGO, and Raji Vika are major recruiters.

Likes

I like the surrounding fresh air, mountains
Hostel facilities are very nice and well settled
Course circulium is also quiet good because there are many free electives

Dislikes

You always feel cold here menas you have to take proper precautions
In August - December there always landslide

Placement Experience:

The placement is very good. For in m.sc mathematics highest package of 2500000. And the lowest package is 600000. In our class, 30 students out of 44 got placed. Thats why I think after IIT Guwahati for m.sc placement is IIT mandi best.

I have gone through the faculty profile given on the official website of IIT Mandi. It looks similar to that of all newly established IITs, except for IIT Gn and IIT H, which are better than the others.

One of my friends is also a student of the Mechanical branch at IIT Mandi. Most of the faculty members in the Mechanical branch are married couples. One of them got a job here and after that, they recommended their spouses.

In terms of research, the branch is not that good. Most of the faculties just mug up a research paper and publish a new one. One of the faculties became associate by doing the same. If you want to pursue higher studies in Mechanical, then don’t choose IIT Mandi.
