- Teaching here is top notch , the faculty is highly experienced and there are teaching assisstents too which help us in understanding the concepts really well
- Placements of iit mandi are great and more than 400 companies including top companies like amazon, google, microsoft etc.
Dislikes
- There is a lack of proper course layout, examination systems and management
- Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . i think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .

Placement Experience:
Yes campus placement is good I don't know much about it but one month ago one of our fourth year senior get 510000 package on a company and he is average student in their batch and if you have skill then you can easily get a placement so don't worry about it just chill in the college

- Things are expensive in IIT Mandi, mess food is not so good.
- Academics is strict, there is 80% attendence is compulsory in every subject or course.
Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for camous placements from 7th semester and for internship offered by institute from 5th semester. Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Aobe, Samsung, Codenation, Irage, Intel, Salesforce etc. visited for campus placements. No. of offer offered is almost 250 in this year. Highest package is 71 LPA offered by microsoft cracked by a student of electrical and average package is almost 13 to 14 LPA. 60 to 70 percent students got placed but the placement process is continue till now. My plan is to crack a high pay salary job after my degree. Allover the placement of IIT Mandi is nice.

- The campus is situated in the Himalayas which has its own merits. Natural Beauty with unpolluted air.
- The weather here is quite nice, you will find yourself in state of aw after seeing through window after rain, clouds stuck amidst the big mountains.
Dislikes
- The academic section is slow and work like normal government office. Most rules for academics are not in favor of students. They require amendments especially in cases of approval after getting internship.
- Hostel facilities are worst where the college don't have enough of infrastructure and admitting large no. of students as herds. In a room where only 1 people can fit have been provided to 2 students. Similarly 4 students are forced in room of 3.
Placement Experience:
Students are eligible for placement from 7th semester. Some of the big tech giants visit us like google , Microsoft, Oracle, Samsung, Texas Instruments, Uber, Paytm, walmart, Flipkart, amazon, etc. Offers made in 2022-23 are more than 150 where company count was more than 70. Highest package is around 63 LPA (INDIA) whereas more than 1 CR (Out of India). Average package is around 33 LPA in 2022-23. Almost 80%+ students sitting in placement gets placed (according to 2022-23 data). My plan is to join tech firm either as SDE or Data Scientist.

- Sports grounds are of decent size and with excellent weather it's fun to play in them
- Classrooms are very nicely built, though now the space is less, so the newer ones are being made is a hurry

- Some professors are very strict and don't want to listen to students
- The administration is making decisions without asking students anything.
Course Curriculum Overview:
Course curriculum is decent but it lacks some very important portions of what is required in life forward. Specially for software Engineers. Courses are taught with the help of projectos and slides and most of the professors provide you with material to read from

- That's a new IIT so infrastructure is very good . It is better as compared to old IIT
- It present in Himachal Pradesh so campus is very beautiful as it is in mountains.
Dislikes
- Campus is located far from main airport city chandigarh , so it is hard to travel there
- Campus is small I think as it is 2nd generation IIT so it is in construction phase
Course Curriculum Overview:
The curriculum is quite good . It is very relevant like we have course on thermodynamics, rigid body mechanics which is useful in mechanical engineering and there are also robotics course for all branches so that every one can know the basics of robotics . There are coding courses for everyone so that everyone can know tech field Also there are extra curricular courses which are very relevant to our daily life like Language speaking courses like french , German , english . Also our college has started have semester exchange facility available to foreign colleges.
Placement Experience:
Placements stats are good for the college. Average packages: CSE : 30Lpa DSE : 25Lpa Electrical : 20Lpa Mechanical : 18Lpa As we can see, these all the stats of average packages of some well known branches ans these are good enough for a fresh placement. But currently due to recession, most of the students are unable to get placements and hence need to apply off campus to secure their future. With time, getting placements is getting much morw difficult.

- A *developing* infrastructure, which cannot be compared to the present facilities at the old IITs. IIT Mandi is 15 kms away from the main Mandi city, so you get that Dominoz, and partying, and all that stuff at a stake of travelling 45minutes on bus
- (IIT has its own buses running every hour between Mandi and the Campus). So if you are too much into city life and stuff then you may not like IIT Mandi. The inter-college fests they organize are less attractive than the big colleges however you get

- Infrastructure: infrastructure is well maintained here. We have a huge library, mega classrooms, auditorium, OAT, sports complex.
- Club culture: club culture is good relative to other colleges.
Dislikes
- Connectivity: no railway station in mandi make it a very hard to reach.
- Faculty: some faculty are very rude to students and grading is relatively tough.
Placement Experience:
The placement is far better than the private colleges but their is still a scope of improvement. The student can sit for placement after 7th semester or they can also got PPO. Due to recession the placement session affected this time. The average package of CS related branches is nearly 25LPA whereas for core branches it is nearly 13-15LPA. The highest package last year was 70LPA. More than 85% student got placed before recession but this time only 50-60% students placed only. The job profiles offered area SDE, data analyst, market analyst, product manager etc.

- The people or the batchmates here are very helpful . Everyone feels like family here . We people enjoy together , go on treks, visited and explored new places in Himachal Pradesh . The thing here is that the whole campus is surrounded by mountains...
- The food is tasty , as compred to kota which i resided during my jee days . The quality of food is good . No issues in it

- The campus is beautiful but it is not so large as compared to other government colleges. But it's fine though.
- They teach subjects like Engineering drawing to even Computer science students in the 1st year . But that's not a huge problem ig 😂
Placement Experience:
The placement of the college are excellent . The college has an average package of 24lpa for all branches and about 30+ lpa for computer science and data science . Even the package for civil is nice about 18-20 lpa. So as for placement consider this college

- Career and Placement cell - my main concern for joining IITMandi was placement, and it was a write decision to join it . In 2023 , the median package for data science and engineering branch was 32 lpa and average was also similar to it .
- Upto date courses- The courses are updated and as per the industrial level . In the world AI and ML , there are three courses on Data science (1 , 2 and 3) compulsory for each branch , so there would be more interdisciplinair work.
Dislikes
- Connectivity- there is connectivity problem between north and south campus , although a shorter path has been made but its not completed
- Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . I think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .

What is your review of Faculty Of IIT Mandi?
I have gone through the faculty profile given on the official website of IIT Mandi. It looks similar to that of all newly established IITs, except for IIT Gn and IIT H, which are better than the others.
One of my friends is also a student of the Mechanical branch at IIT Mandi. Most of the faculty members in the Mechanical branch are married couples. One of them got a job here and after that, they recommended their spouses.
In terms of research, the branch is not that good. Most of the faculties just mug up a research paper and publish a new one. One of the faculties became associate by doing the same. If you want to pursue higher studies in Mechanical, then don’t choose IIT Mandi.
