What Students Say

Likes

Sports grounds are of decent size and with excellent weather it's fun to play in them
Classrooms are very nicely built, though now the space is less, so the newer ones are being made is a hurry
Their are a lot spots near here to visit in 2-3 days break.

Dislikes

Some professors are very strict and don't want to listen to students
The administration is making decisions without asking students anything.
The batch strength is being increased without proper hostel arrengements

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum is decent but it lacks some very important portions of what is required in life forward. Specially for software Engineers. Courses are taught with the help of projectos and slides and most of the professors provide you with material to read from

Class Size: 35Course Fees: INR 250000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not eligible for any scholorship so I pay the full fees, that is roughly 1,50,000 per semester. The breakdown is 1,00,00 tuition fees, rest is divided into hostel fees, maintainence fees, mess and other aminities. scholorship is available on the tuition fees only.

Campus Life

College is dived in 2 campuses. The library in north campus is quite goof with all the neccesary books. The south campus has all the grounds which along with the pleasent weather is very fun to play in. We have many fests like Exodia (Cult Fest), Expecto(Tech Fest), Ranneeti (Sports Fest), though the timings for them change a lot. There are clubs for almost any field you can think of from Robototronics to Civil Engineering Clubs in the Technical Clubs. Also from Dance club to Digital Designing Club in cultural clubs.

Admission

I chose this college cause I was able to get electrical branch over here, plus there was a quite a good chance for branch change in my time. It's closed now. Also there a lot of spots to travel to nearby. You can only enter through Advanced though there are now courses for MBA also.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty to student ratio was decent in the earlier days but now the batch strength is increased plus many faculties have left the college so now it's harder to get time with faculty. Though most of them give you time if you want. The best ones are Parimala Kancharla, Aditya Nigam. Some professors are very strict though I would like to name names, but ask for the professor who teaches CV course and you will know.

Chandigarh-based companies or the startups, and training institutes come here. Companies like Meander Software, Bebo Technologies, Novem Control, BookingKoala - Sales Hungary, etc. companies come. Average package is 3.8 LPA, and 50% students are getting placed. My plans after getting the degree is working in an IT company.

Placement Experience:

yes they povide placements. After 6th sem, means in 7th sem you are eligible for placement and apply for companies based on their requirements. Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Amazon and many more visits every year. Highest is the PPO of 93 lakhs and placement of 60 lakhs. around 93% are placed who registers for placements Average CTC is around in between 18 to 22 lakhs

Placement Experience:

At NIT Hamirpur, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards, and the placement scenario has been quite encouraging in recent years. A wide range of companies such as Infosys, Wipro, L\&T, Capgemini, Tata Projects, and several core as well as IT firms visit the campus every year. The highest placement touched an impressive 2.05 crore offered to a mechanical engineering student, while the overall average package stands at around 10.5 LPA, which is a strong figure compared to many other NITs. The placement percentage remains high, with a majority of students securing offers, especially in branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, though core branches like civil and mechanical also receive good opportunities. The profiles offered include roles in software development, consulting, design, project engineering, and research. After completing my degree, I plan to take advantage of these placement opportunities to gain solid industry experience and later decide whether to pursue higher studies or competitive exams for broader career growth.

IIT Mandi- my home and karmbhoomi

Honestly I initially thought of branch change and college in some what cold place which led me to this college. Our college is moderate in comparison to other iits, obviously you cant compare it with old iits , but yeah its decent enough, having good students and friends. Placement of four college is better than other iits. Some years result in placement ogf good no. of students whereas some leads to okish. The sport facilities are ok. Swimming pool is not of olympic size and it requires lot of time for repair of the sport equipments. Admission process is through Jossa counselling after JEE Advanced. I applied for VIT, NIT BHOPAL, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Jammu, IIT BHU, IIT Ropar, NIT Durgapur, and many of the IITS and NITS. I choose only this so, didn't fill for confirmation for others. IIT MANDI KE ANSUNE KISSE

The admission process at IITs are generally common through a cmon entrance exam all over India named jee mains for nits and then after qualifying in that we need to score good in jee advanced. There are reservations for sc, st, obc and economically backward classes. Like you can get good branches with lower marks. For example in computer science you can get 6000 rank for obc but around 2000 for general candidates....Read More
