Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum at IIT Mandi is well-structured and focuses on practical applications, Which influenced my decision to choose this course. It prepares students for real-world challenges. Impovements can be made by including more session on tech and skills. Exams are conducted two times in a semester and their difficulty level is moderate.

Internships Opportunities

5

IIT Mandi offers internship opportunities across various sectors, providing valuable real-world experience for students. It offers software development internships at Google, Microsoft, Amazon and startups working on cutting -edge technologies. These companies involve software development, data analysis, and machine learning. IIT Mandi also offers internships in research and finance sectors. Many internships offer stipend to cover living expenses and some may include benefits like health insurance.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for camous placements from 7th semester and for internship offered by institute from 5th semester. Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Aobe, Samsung, Codenation, Irage, Intel, Salesforce etc. visited for campus placements. No. of offer offered is almost 250 in this year. Highest package is 71 LPA offered by microsoft cracked by a student of electrical and average package is almost 13 to 14 LPA. 60 to 70 percent students got placed but the placement process is continue till now. My plan is to crack a high pay salary job after my degree. Allover the placement of IIT Mandi is nice.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid institute and medical cover fees which is 12,400 and 1,500 rupees per year respectively. My friend paid 2,12,400 institute fees for 1 year, he belongs to the general category. I paid 10,000 for one time non-refundable charges at the time of admission and 12,000 for one time deposit. The hostel charges and mess charges is 19,200 and 30,720 rupees per year respectively for all btech students. There are different type of scholarship refered by my institute(IIT Mandi) like Reliance foundation scholarship, Engineer India Scholarship (EIL) for sc/st students admitted to the institute, EDCIL Vidyanjali scholarship, kotak kanya scholarship specific for girls and much more. There is different criteria for different scholarship.

Campus Life

5

The name of technical fest of IIT Mandi is Expecto and it is celebrated in month of march. Also Exodia is the annual cultural fest and it is celebrated in april. The central library of IIT Mandi has a big collection of books which contains over 50,000 books including print and electronics. We can access these books from library by issuing them. Accessibility is very simple. IIT Mandi provides sports facilities like cricket, hockey, vollyball, basketball, table tenis, badminton, squad, etc. Extracurricular activities offered by institute is dance club, music clus, painting club, drawing club, robotics etc. yes, there is many number of tech and cultural clubs. students can learn different and amazing skills from these clubs. These all activities and clubs put a positive impact on students life.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostel facilities are excellent. Bed, table, chair almirah provided in the room. There is facility of indoor games, washing machine, iron, heater, microwave, wifi etc. in the hostel. Meal quality is also good in mess we can change mess if we want. menu is different for different day. Breakfast menu is alloo paratha, puri, mix paratha, poha ,idli, palak paratha, dosa with milk, curd, eggs for respective days.lunch menu has roti, rice, lassi, dal and sabji which is different for different days and similarly snacks and dinner has good quality and quantity food. we can online apply for hostel at the site of iit mandi for hostel. But the living expanses is high if we rented a room or pg. IIT provides hostel at minimal amount.

Admission

I applied to several other IITs( IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi etc.) , NITs and other prestigious institutes.I chose IIT Mandi because of its beautiful location and focus on research. The smaller class sizes and personalized attention from faculty were also major factors. No, I did't get rejection from other colleges. Complelety process of admission is through josaa and i got IITMandi CSE at the end of counselling after considering my jee advance rank. The admission process is through the jee advanced. Student must get 75% in 12th standard if he/she belongs to gen/obc category otherwise get 65%.The overall admission experience is competitive but fair and the results are usually declared on time.

Faculty

5

student to faculty ratio is 12:1 in IIT Mandi. The faculty has good behaviour, they help and encourage to students for great achievements. They interact regularly, ensuring a strong connection and effective guidance to the students. Dr. Rohit Saluja,a faculty member at SCEE department is my favourite faculty. I had not participated for class participation in one couse but he gave me marks for class participation on my attendence. I don't like some other faculty of CSE department because they are not fair in giving marks to the students. Faculty conduct 2 type of exams: midsem and endsem. The level of both exam remains easy. 2 to 3 students may fail due to a lack of attendence. The course curriculum is new and related to the industry, which is practically useful in real life.

Night Life

5

My favourite hangout spots is fountain area and village square. late-night activities is walk with friends, play with them, sing songs or watch a movie. Students spend time with their friends after classes. These all experiences make college life stressed free. gym timing is 4am to 10am and 4pm to 10pm for opening. cafeterias closes after 1am in night. After 10 pm, we can't go outside campus without permission. Girls timing is 12am for 1st year girls and 2am for other girls. they can't go outside hostels after these timing. Famous hangout places in campus is village square, hockey ground, fountain area and outside the campus is mandi, kullu, mananli, rewarsal etc. Outside the campus at the night is not safe due to its location.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities at my college are average. A few reputed companies visit the campus each year, but the number of offers and salary packages varies depending on the branch and market conditions. Students who have strong academic performance, technical skills, internships, and good communication skills generally have better chances of getting placed.
