IIT Mandi- my home and karmbhoomi

Hostel Facilities:

hostel facility is worse and moderate at same time. Currently 4 people of first year are staying in room having space for 3 people with bunker bads. It requires lot of time for the repairment of hostles, where you can just wait for the slow system to function. Toilets are regularly cleaned but students are so illiterate and unhyegenic that they make the washroom a place where you dont want to go. Mess food is between bad to neutral where special dinners are being organised at the end of each month. Mess fees is paid seperately while fillling the course fees.

The Honest Review Of IIT Mandi

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel facilities are excellent . The rooms are very nice , bathrooms ar very nice, we got refrigerator for our hostel , microwave for each floor , iron , and sports equipment for our hostel students . Also Telivision and Sports facilities like table tennis is available inside our hostel.Talking about our mess that is meal quality, it is nice , we got meal 4 times a day , very good and properly cooked breakfast . We have authority to choose between veg and non veg mess . Also we got special dinner once in month and on special occasions . There is not such city near our colleges also our college have compulsory rule of staying in hostels . So one can rent room in locality.

Honest review of IIT Mandi

Hostel Facilities:

Generally 2 and 3 seater rooms are allotted to the freshers. But idk why admin is increasing the seats every year so they are just filling 2 seater rooms with 3 students. But the quality of rooms is great with a good wifi speed. Mess food is average and better than the hostels food at Kota. Hostel allotment is random and is done by admin itself. Renting a room outside is not allowed you have to live at institute's hostel.

Why IIT Mandi Stands Out :A students perspective

Hostel Facilities:

Hostel is compulsory for all the students . Fees for it is around 25000. Since its a new iit , hostels are newly built and its well spaceous. The facilities in hostel includes , table tennis , study room in each floor , free wifi , rooms available from single double to triple sharing. There is iron in each hostel , microwave , and a fridge available for student ease . There is sitting place below the hostel abd canteen area in 10-15 meters . There are 5 mess in the north campus 2 pure vegetarian . Its quality is really good and there are special dinner in regular basis . Mess are just in 50-100 meters from the hostel .

If you're not from North India , food is a really challenging thing for you. You have to get adopted to it

Hostel Facilities:

The hostels are always super clean provided with a decent room space and a Locker. It has tripple,double and single sharing. It changes by year wise. Washrooms are shared one for every floor. Laundry room is available in each hostel block. Also has a refrigerator, induction stove, and an iron. Every black has 3-4 flours. Every hostels has a gaurd for security and issue resolving purposes.

I live in hostel itself. The hostel facilities are quite impressive like the amenities of refrigerator, induction, washing machines etc. If they are found faulty then there are very quick responses from administration regarding this. There are single rooms for 4th year and 3rd year and double and triple sharing for 1st and 2nd year students.

Hostel Facilities:

Faculties provided in room like this way 1 study table, 1 bed ,1 chair, 1 almira, plug light faculty, etc. Mess provide good quality of food. All process of registration will done at the time of admission.

Food served in Mess doesn't appeal to me very much

Hostel Facilities:

The rooms have proper lighting and ventilation and the cupboards provided in the room is good enough for all the baggage to fit in. We have a big enough table for each student. They are single , double and triple sharing bedrooms. They are mosquito nets covering the windows to ensure insects don't enter the room. The meals offered are fine and there is variety each day . Non Veg is served occasionally and on weekends when chicken biryani is served. They are panner and potato curries offered on weekdays and rice or rotis. There is also an endo of the month special dinner. The hostel rooms are alloted or can be booked on the OAS student portal and there are options for swapping rooms . The cost of hostel is affordable and is about 6500 rupees. The rooms on each floor have first year and secind year students and each hostel mostly have students of same branch.

Ragging is not something you need to worry about at IIT Mandi. The seniors are helpful and supportive.
The smaller batch strength (compared to other IITs) at IIT Mandi comes with its own advantages. You get opportunities to work on projects even if you have no prior knowledge, as long as you're willing to learn.
Unlike other bigger institutions where hundreds of students stay in one hostel, at IIT Mandi, you have clusters of hostels with about 150 students in each hostel. In your first year, you'll stay together with almost the whole batch, but in later years, you get to stay with awesome seniors in your hostel. Some seniors even hold positions in technical secretariats and club coordinators, making it a great environment to work in. You can join clubs and be part of the core team as long as you're willing to work.
If you're concerned about placements, rest assured that top companies come for placement and internship drives at IIT Mandi. The institute was placed 6th in median salary.
In terms of drawbacks, the sports facilities at IIT Mandi aren't quite up to the mark, but this is expected to improve with more students returning to campus and a new Director taking charge. The roads have been in bad shape this season, but repairs are expected as soon as the weather permits.

IIT Mandi campus is situated in Kamand village which is 15 km from MANDI town. There is an institute bus facility available from Mandi to IIT. The North and South campuses are separated by a mountain. While the South campus has been developed completely, the North campus is still under the construction phase.

The 1st and 2nd-year students reside in the South campus, while the 3rd and 4th-year students reside in the North campus. The mess food is good enough when compared to other college hostels. The menu is arranged based on the preferences of the students. If you belong to the South Indian side, then it is pretty difficult for you to get used to the food, but you can approach the hostel authority and tell them your preference.
