- Teaching here is top notch , the faculty is highly experienced and there are teaching assisstents too which help us in understanding the concepts really well
- Placements of iit mandi are great and more than 400 companies including top companies like amazon, google, microsoft etc.
- Good thing is that college provides scholarship for economically backward students .
Dislikes
- There is a lack of proper course layout, examination systems and management
- Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . i think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .
- Faculty: some faculty are very rude to students and grading is relatively tough.

- A *developing* infrastructure, which cannot be compared to the present facilities at the old IITs. IIT Mandi is 15 kms away from the main Mandi city, so you get that Dominoz, and partying, and all that stuff at a stake of travelling 45minutes on bus
- (IIT has its own buses running every hour between Mandi and the Campus). So if you are too much into city life and stuff then you may not like IIT Mandi. The inter-college fests they organize are less attractive than the big colleges however you get

- The people or the batchmates here are very helpful . Everyone feels like family here . We people enjoy together , go on treks, visited and explored new places in Himachal Pradesh . The thing here is that the whole campus is surrounded by mountains...
- The food is tasty , as compred to kota which i resided during my jee days . The quality of food is good . No issues in it
- Teaching here is top notch , the faculty is highly experienced and there are teaching assisstents too which help us in understanding the concepts really well
Dislikes
- The campus is beautiful but it is not so large as compared to other government colleges. But it's fine though.
- They teach subjects like Engineering drawing to even Computer science students in the 1st year . But that's not a huge problem ig 😂
- The fests that are conducted here are really small level of fests, it can be much more fun . But it depends on us to conduct them , so no say on that
Placement Experience:
The placement of the college are excellent . The college has an average package of 24lpa for all branches and about 30+ lpa for computer science and data science . Even the package for civil is nice about 18-20 lpa. So as for placement consider this college

- Career and Placement cell - my main concern for joining IITMandi was placement, and it was a write decision to join it . In 2023 , the median package for data science and engineering branch was 32 lpa and average was also similar to it .
- Upto date courses- The courses are updated and as per the industrial level . In the world AI and ML , there are three courses on Data science (1 , 2 and 3) compulsory for each branch , so there would be more interdisciplinair work.
- R&D in Robotics field- There is separate department for Robotics CIAR , there are FDP(compulsorily course) and DP (elective) courses . Even Students from Germany , France come to IIT mandi each every around 30-40 for this course ,its market standard.
Dislikes
- Connectivity- there is connectivity problem between north and south campus , although a shorter path has been made but its not completed
- Branch change- from 2024 onwards there will be no branch change . I think its bad decision as it was giving opportunities to the students to change their branches if they dont like the course structure .
- College life- its in the mountain and it takes 1 hour Bus ride to reach to the main market , which sometimes time consuming for buying something.

- Peaceful environment for the students both to concentrate on studies and productive activities.
- Best place to have trips as it's a beautiful place with many wonderful tourism spots nearly 2-4 hours from the college.
Dislikes
- Travelling can be a hectic job as the way is full of ghats road
- Weather can be too extreme, all in winters, summers and monsoons.
- If you're not from North India , food is a really challenging thing for you. You have to get adopted to it
Placement Experience:
We have both on and off campus placements. Our on campus placement cell provides opportunities for students to apply by sending mail to all the students. Placement rate of the college is pretty good. Whereas for off campus placements, the rate is pretty good too. Students who are not able to meet the criterias or Many of our seniors have secured placement in the top MNCs and other leading companies in both the nation and out of the nation.

- Infrastructure. We have two campuses, high end labs, good classrooms, libraries, sports complex etc
- Diverse branches, flexible curriculum, courses to encourage robotics, entrepreneurship etc
- The student community is very active, supportive, inclusive. Your voice will never go unheard
Dislikes
- The route between two campuses is not that proper especially if there are any lansdslides
- The bus timings between the two campuses and from campus to Mandi are very busy during peak hours
- The college is almost one hour far from city, Mandi.
Placement Experience:
From the 7th semester, you would be eligible to sit for placements. Our college has a career and placement cell responsible for contacting companies, conducting examinations, and interviews on behalf of the company. While the highest package is around 35 lakhs, the average package is around 25 lakhs. Some students also opt for higher studies immediately.

- Firstly the campus both north and south are very beautiful.
- The courses are designed in such a way that it gives exposure to a lot of fields like artificial intelligence, robotronics etc
- The mess food is also better than other IITs for sure.
Dislikes
- The college has a strict 80% attendance policy.
- There are a lot many seminars and all are compulsory to be attended even if those are outside our field of interest.
- There are a lot of issues in commuting between two campuses for classes as the buses are not not sufficient.
Placement Experience:
In 3rd year students start to appear for interviews. These are for the internships. In 4th year companies are coming for final placements. The famous companies which visited for internship are Amazon, flipkart, Zomato, razoroay, medibuddy, nucleus software and other big tech giants like Hitachi, Google etc.
This year placement stats are not that good as almost 30-40% students are yet to be placed.
I will be joining Accenture japan after my degree.

- Food quality is not so good in mess, cleanliness in mess is not good
- Vehicle management system is not good, distance between hostels and academic is far
- Colloquium is mandatory for all that's take too much time of students
Placement Experience:
The placements of last year was quite impressive. But, this year there is a lot of chaos due to recession. The average package last year was 28 for cse, 20 for ee etc. This year, the placement season is still going on. Almost 80% from cse are placed and for other branches its 50% this year.

What is your review of Faculty Of IIT Mandi?

I have gone through the faculty profile given on the official website of IIT Mandi. It looks similar to that of all newly established IITs, except for IIT Gn and IIT H, which are better than the others.
One of my friends is also a student of the Mechanical branch at IIT Mandi. Most of the faculty members in the Mechanical branch are married couples. One of them got a job here and after that, they recommended their spouses.
In terms of research, the branch is not that good. Most of the faculties just mug up a research paper and publish a new one. One of the faculties became associate by doing the same. If you want to pursue higher studies in Mechanical, then don’t choose IIT Mandi.
