Remarks

IIIT Dharwad is an emerging institute and once the college moves its permanent campus its going to be a very good institute overall. Right now, the college lacks the infrastructure and some of the facilities. Also, college hasn't got their own bus service for transporting students. They are reliable on public transport. Although they have a tie up now with KSRTC which provides buses in college times.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

IIIT Dharwad has only two branches to offer since it's a "Information Technology" Institute. The two branches are namely Computer Science Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The course curriculum is pretty new. All the subjects which are required in the current market are offered along with electives which one can choose as per their interest.

Placement Experience

2.5

Indian Institute of Information Technology Dharwad is newly established Institute in 2015 and only one batch till now has been graduated. Hence, there are are not a lot of placements and job opportunities right now but it's not the case that there are none. Last year(2018-19) companies like Sankhya labs and Mind tree have visited the campus and offered jobs to around 40 % students. And also college provides internships in research area in for the students in summer vacation which are 2 months long.

College Events

3

1. Swatcchta Pakwada: So we celebrate it for 15 days in the month of September-October. Groups are formed to clean the surroundings, hostel and to visit some nearby villages to aware people about he cleanliness. 2. Traditional Day: Students get to wear authentic Indian wear on this day and we arrange plenty of other events to go along with it. 3. Orientation Day: It is arranged for newly admitted students every year where some fun events and introduction for new students is organized. 4. Talks and Seminars: Some people from research area and businesses come and visit IIIT Dharwad. And give insights and motivate students for their future. And other plenty of events like flash mobs, quizzes, elocution, etc keep on happening through out the year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are divided into Tuition fees and hostel/mess fees. But the newly admitting students are required to pay admission fee, other fees, caution deposit and insurance along with tuition and hostel/mess fees. From last 4 years the fees are increasing every year. For the newly admitting students first semester fees are around Rs. 1,60,000 (as of 2019).

Fees and Financial Aid

College has a partnership with SBI. So taking education loan is easy. Many students have taken advantage of this facility. College doesn't offer any scholarships on their own but if your state government or central government is offering any scholarships to students then you can apply for it through college.

Campus Life

2

Since the college dosen't have permanent campus yet and is under construction there are not a lot of extracurricular activities that are happening in college right now. But, still have sufficient computer and electronics lab for the practical sessions. There are more than 100 computers in the lab an d more are being purchased every year. Even though college hasn't got a ground for playing, students go and play on the nearby college's ground with official permission. Students have also participated in inter IIIT sports meet in Allahabad and Goa in recent years.

Hostel Facilities

4

Since IIIT Dharwad doesn't have permanent campus yet they have taken around 4-5 hostels on rent in the city which are close to the college's transit campus. There are separate hostels for girls and boys and hostels are divided according the classes meaning if one hostel contains 2nd year students then there won't be any student from other year. The hostels are clean and provide clean drinking water, hot water , WiFi and food comes to the hostel itself (if not in college for lunch). I will rate 3.5/5 for the hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

Since only one batch has passed out since the college has been established there is no such alumni network. But the seniors are very helpful. They give you good advises whenever you're facing any problems with college or any of the subjects. And many of the seniors from the first batch are now place in companies, they are surely going to help their juniors.

Admission

IIIT Dharwad is one of the 20 IIIT's proposed in 2015 under PPP model and it's a central government institute. So, admissions are done based on the scores of JEE mains. Once the scores are declared you'll get your percentile and rank. So, according to your rank you will be allotted a college in the rounds carried by JoSAA. After you finalize the college you have to visit the college for admission process ehere you'll be asked to submit some documents along with the fees. So this process starts somewhere in the May and will end by August and that's when the college starts.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is well educated. Most of them have done their M.Tech and PhD's from IIT's. There are around 20 faculty members along with some visiting faculty. Each of them teaches the subject they have expertise in. If someone has a PhD in Cryptography he teaches subject related to Cryptography. So, they can deliver the required knowledge along with their experiences to students
