The college is a powerhouse for knowledge, skills and professional betterment. The only concern with regard to its performance is it's infrastructure, which the govt must deeply concern over.

My pathway to the college is kerala engineering, architecture, medical (KEAM) entrance examination. I secured a rank of 2100 in the examination. Three rounds of allotment procedures. I had opted for the electronics and communication field. First allotment got me at a prominent govt college but i was not satisfied. Second allotment paved the way to my college. government model engineering college always had and has been staying a prominent name in the top colleges in india. mainly known for its placements, the placement stasts of the college would reach about 85-95% every year. it's one of the specific reasons i joined this college.

MEC(model engineering college) is affiliated under cusat(cochin university of science and technology). Cusat falls under one of the premium university's in india. Known for its tough and strict standards the university stands out of the box than the usual. We have an excellent faculty at hand. mec was the first college to be established under ihrd. Over the years mec always stands out due to its faculty and placements. High placements are accounted for on the basis of quality student being churned out of the college. our faculty plays an important role in the process.

Just like placements, the college has a high internship stats. Internship plays an important role in terms of industrial exposure. 99% of the students have completed internships at various companies last year. The internships in some cases turn into ppo(pre placement offers). Last year 6 students received ppo's .

Last year 92.2% students received placement offer with esri offering the highest pay package of 31 lakhs pa, followed by myntra 16 lakhs pa.

Mec celebrates its annual techno managerial symposium during the month of september. It received participation from all over india, esp online evnts receive notable participation from other countries too. Apart from the tech fest mec has a cultural fest, sports fest and university arts every year.

For govt merit allotment, fees: ?35000 pa.for govt management seat allotment, fees: ?65000 pa.for nri seat, fees :?1.2 laks pa. compared to other colleges the fee structure is feasible for a normal student. Apart from these three college promotes various scholarship activities. The xmecians (alumni of mec) association provide scholarship to student who perform well in the examinations.

Enjoyment at mec has no limits. Campus life is a pleasure full experience sports, arts, excel(annual techno managerial symposium), university arts sports clubs tedxmec etc. Makes the college life bright and colourful. Other than these mentioned the college tech clubs organise tech workshops emphasising on a particular topic and advancements in tech.

The college lags a bit only in the infrastructure concern. the college house a men's hostel. The accommodation for girls are done by various private hostels in and around the college with the close notice of the principal.

The college has a strong alumni association well bonded and coordinated with the college activities by the placement cell of the college. They play an integral role in the high placement stats of the college.

Total 8 semesters. each sem follows two series examinations and followed by a university examination.
