Remarks

Overall the college is one of the best private colleges in India. It is great to be a part of it. They provides with great placement oppertunities which is really nice and not able to get in many government colleges also.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The cource curriculum is almost same as any other college. It has some 30 to 35 hours of academic sessions per week where saturday and sunday are off. There are two written exams conducted as MST and EST. Third are the sessionals through tut test quizs and labs.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements here are decent. Many companies like D Show, Microsoft, Rubix come here to offer internships and jobs with the package maxed out at 40 lacs. The placement cell here is very organised and helpful. If you have any ability irrespective of branch you are refered to the companies for placements. Placements here are more than 90 percent in total.

College Events

3.5

Here are many types of societies like cultural, technical, enviornmental etc. These societies have their different events throughout the year. Societies like Virsa organises many Punjabi cultured festivals. And every tech society organises hackathons etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure here is expensive. Yes I mean it. The fee here is increased every semester by 10 percent with the hostel fee fir a semester is approx 40k and more. All this gives a sum of almost 5 lacs a year which is more than double of any government engineering college.

Fees and Financial Aid

Here are two types of scholarships. One is based on the financial status of the student and another based on the academics of the student. There are scholarships upto 100 percent of tutuion fees. If student enters through JEE and has decent marks can avail scholarship based on JEE and CBSE marks. This scholarship can be continued by scoring 8.5 GPA every semester.

Campus Life

4.5

Here students are also encouraged to take part in sports. Many intercollege sports events are held here. There is great facility of sports with a synthetic track for running, cricket ground, hockey ground football ground, enclosed badminton play area, tennis play areas and also there are many other sports playable like vollyball and basketball etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The infrastructure at histel is great with many choices of hostel and ofcource different fee structures. Mess facility here is decent. We are also provided with the laundary facility which is also decent and very handy.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes there is a different society that deals with all these named as Student Alumni Interaction Cell. They organises different events like group discussioms panel discussions with the alumini and great people from this corporate world. Also seniors here are very helpful. Here is a society named Frosh that helps freshers during councelling and make them feel home in here. Organises many fun events of about 2 to 3 weeks to just welcome them in the college.

Admission

I gave an all india entrance exam and scored decently and on those basis I got selected for councelling. During counseling I had to select my branch prefernces and choosing COE as 1st preference I got admission in this college.

Faculty

4

College faculty is great. They are very friendly and always available. We can reach them any time through phone calls or in person in their respective cabins from 8Am till 5pm. They have great knowledge about the subjects they are teaching and almost everyone of them are PhDs

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
