Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum for this year is the updated one. Its 2025 Scheme for the students. The curriculum is well designed according to the needs of CSE students for real life coding. The curriculum contains all required and updated topics which students from CSE background require to develop excellent skills for jobs and startups. There should be only one internal exam instead of two. Because, two internal exams tend to keep them involved more into college exams leaving very less time to build their extra skills. Thus there should be only one internal exam so that students can build their extra skills.

Fees and Financial Aid

I joined the college through COMEDK. During councelling, I had to pay around 3 lakh and during admission in college, I had to pay around 40k. So total fees for one year is around 340k for COMEDK Students. Additionally, around 1700 is charged twice a year for semester exam registration. Previous year, it was around 310k per year for COMEDK Students.

Campus Life

4

The college is built on 8 acres of land which is not big enough. So you might need to compromise in campus size. But as the peer quality is good, you are always surrounded with people who are serious about their life and posses great extra curricular skills. We have many technical clubs which organize events regularly. Thus we have events every week where we can judge our skills and knowledge related to coding. Also we have many non technical clubs for singers, dancers, artists, fashion walk, acting, advertising, sports, etc. The Library of college is very good. It contains variety of books for every branch students. Also our library has computer area where students who don't have laptops or pcs can use those systems for their work. We have lapton zone too where we can charge and use our laptop. The library is open from 8am to 10pm on working days. But during exams, its open from 8am to 12am. Two fests are held in a year. Around september. a fest named AURA is held which is not too big and is held in auditorium of the college. The major fest, CULTURA is held in April where every interested students showcase their skills to everyone. One biggest 24 hour Hackathon, VYUHATECH is held in around October where every college students can participate. A big sports event is also conducted in November where different big colleges from Bangalore participate. Classrooms have all required facilities. Smart TVs are also available which make the education very interactive and teaching to be very understandable. Our college has many technical and non technical clubs where students can utilise their skills to make the events held by clubs very meaningful.

Admission

I live in odisha. I applied to KIIT, Bhubaneswar and ITER, Bhubaneswar. I got selected for both the clgs in CSE Branch. But i preferred CMRIT over them mainly because of the crowd. The exam conducted by KIIT and ITER is easy to pass. Also the cutoff goes very low. Addition to that, these colleges have a huge number of seats in only CSE branch which leads to degradation of crowd and peer environment. In CMRIT, total intake in cse and related branches if around 1500 whereas in KIIT and ITER, its around 7000-8000. Thus leading to degradtion in peer quality and environment. I was also getting VSSUT ,Burla through my jee mains marks, but i preferred CMRIT over it because of the great opportunity in Bangalore. I have made great connections with different people from different companies in just 3 months and gain a lot of knowledge regarding jibs and interviews from those people. They help me a lot in devolping my skills and make me aware of all required skills for good packages. Even they guide me through changing trends and skills so that i am fully prepared for good placement in my final year. Also I have huge opportunity to get into many startups from 2nd year itself. There are few students in my college who are in 2nd year and have got good 20lpa+ packages in blr.

Faculty

The faculties are well educated and well trained to guide you through the exams properly. The faculties are very friendly related to academics and also provide every materials for the exams. The materials(notes, sample papers, question banks, syllabus, marking structure, etc.) are present in a single google drive link which makes it easy for students to access every materials and prepare well for exams. Each semester has two internal exams, IAT1 and IAT2. each internal exam is for 50 marks. the marks of both the internals are scaled down to 25 marks together. Rest 25 marks is for assignments. Total 50 marks (25 marks internals and 25 marks assignment) are provided by the college. Rest 50 marks are for the end sem exams. Each end sem exam is for 100 marks which is scaled down to 50 marks. So 50 marks are from internals and rest 50 marks are from end sem exam. Each Course has around 6-8 subjects and 2-3 labs in the first year. Exams are moderate to easy. Studying notes provided by teachers help a lot to top the exam easily. The curriculum is also updated every 3-4 years. We also have a subject called TYL which is only college exam but is necessary to be passed to be eligible in placements. TYL contains aptitude, programming and communication skills.

Night Life

Our college has agreat auditorium,. One decent gym for free and a big cafetaria with three cafes good enough for breakfast, lunch and snacks. We also have one stationery shop inside our college. The library is also great enough with every books, computer systems for free usage with great wifi all around the campus. Laptop zones for charging are also good for laptop users. The college timing is from 8am to 4pm. The hostel timing is from 8 am to 8pm. The food is hostel is good enough with 4 times meal. Cafeteria is a great hangout place with friends. We have benches around the paths of colleges to sit and enjoy. We have a cement made seating area around the turf of football ground. There are many cafes and restaurants outside the college making the nightlife around college very vibrant and enjoyable. The locality is very safe to even roam around 12 am because the locality is full of job people making the nightlife crowded.

The overall placements of BMSIT is good. The average placement percentage is approximately 75-80%. There is a seperate Placement cell in BMSIT which helps in career options and also provide regular skill training programmes according to industry requirements. The average package in BMSIT is 6-9lpa and i have seen maximum of 22 lpa of a CS guy placed in Phonepay In our (civil) branch the average package is 4.5 lpa and placement percentage is 80%. If you not wish to go for jobs and have an idea to start a business, there is a inovation cell which supports for your buniness ideas. It also provides various online and offline platfroms to expose your ideas and helps getting funds is your ideas is really good.
