Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum aligns well with the professional courses like CA and CMA. it has a lot of classes like value added course, modern indian language etc. which help us grow overall. The seminars are very helpful. We submit presentations on rela world topics which prepare us beyond the clasroom. It could be improved to reduce the excess theory portions. The frequency and timing is wonderful.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of companies like deloitte, pwc, etc visit the placement cell, and the brand name opens the door to a lot of internship opportunites. Howver I have not yet got to stage for the same and can not say that personally. Howveer my seniors have nothing but good things to say about this. a 30 hour internship credit is mandatory before 6th semester so it makes everyone very industry ready.
Fees and Financial Aid
58,500 for 1st installment during admission, 32700 for 2nd, 34000 third, 31500 for fourth. Overall there is a 10% increment per year. so im looking at a 6.4 lakh in the four years. admission fee was 12000, registration 500, marksheet fee 2000, session fee 8000, library +cyber fee 2000, tech enable teaching fee 1200 per year and 8100 tuttion fee, 14100 additional fee, 9300 development fee every installment 2500 exam fee per semester. i do not believe there is any change for other students as there are no reservations in the college we have multiple scholrships available depending on merit after 1st sem results get out. the college also has tie ups with various pvt institutions that conduct aptitude tests for the same. it pulls for more than other colleges do for bcom course, but its worth it.
Campus Life
There are lots of clubs. Commerce, finance, management, dance, music, drama, just name it. The clubs host ots of events, all year round, there is no end to it really, while flagship events are spaced out, the fests mostly are held from nov - march. the seminars do not have moenthly divisions. the library is huge, thousands of books and very well organized. its divided into reading sections and duplicate borrowing sections so that no one misses a chance to get hold of a book. there are projectors in every room, a huge blackboard and whiteboard. indoor games as well as outdoor game equipments are well stocked with proper trainers in each sport. the peer group is very good, pushing everyone to make memories and perform better at the same time.
Admission
I was a science student and I did apply to various engineering colleges. However I had a chnage of heart and decided to take up commerce. I did not want to relocate and St. Xavier's is one of the top colleges in India for commerce, so it was a no brainer. My marks supported it and the brand name speaks. The process was easy, apply online, see the merit list, go thriugh a document verification offline. The eligibility is purely boards marks. Various streams of different boards have different cutoffs to keep them on the same level. The cutoffs are not very low, but they fit me.
Faculty
so we have 1 prof for 90 students. which is manageable in college. they are very experienced, and effective in teaching. they are very approachable too. I like my economics professor the most, she is very friendly and helps us out. I was a science srudent who took up commerce, so all my professors helped me immensely to bridge the gap. I do not like one of my accounts professors as her teaching style doesnt align with me personally, but she is a great teacher as well. all profs use ppts, are engaging. we have seminars (which are graded for the final marksheet) every saturday or continous internal exams uptil the semester exams. they are very standard and constantly test us.
Night Life
The school canteen is always buzzing, so is the food truck and coffee shop right opposite to the backgate. Its located at Park Street, so nightlife need not be explained. You have access to everything. Howveer most students hve their own niches. Either sports, or club ctivities at the green benches, or the library for studying, thats where every one is after classes. The locality is very safe. The college is strict so there is no missing classes or roaming around. The security is tight. But there are plenty of opportunities to have fun.
