Review from a CA student's perspective fo AJC Bose College.

Likes

The college is very lenient on the attendance thing, If you are a student there you'll not have to stress about having 75% Attendanfe
The college premises is decent big and have different departments as well.
There is decent teacher behaviour towards students.

Dislikes

The management of any document related work is very poor
The students are mostly show off and do not provide a study like environment
There is no campus placement option available, not that much of opportunities available

Academic structure and curriculum in the campus

My course was very relevant as for a n average B.Com student, however technical knowledge of Excel, Tally etc gives an advantage to the student to face the real world more efficiently which is absent from the curriculum. I chose B.Com because I wanted to have a graduation degree also along with my CA Course. The areas of improvement should be in B.Com in the field of how easy the syllabus has become, it's below average and doesn't prepare students well enough. The frequency of examinations should be every 6 months but the first semester exams is taken in December or January and suddenly second semester is taken in May June. There is no difficulty in the examination, it is made for below average level.

What are the placement opportunities in the college and highest package?

After 5th Semester students become eligible for campus placement but there is little to no vacancy for that much students, small companies like Mpokket Tries to hire from this college as for any other reputed companies they are rare and very less hiring happens. The highest package is somewhere around 2.5LPA from Mpokket I guess, The percentage of students getting placements is less than 5%. The B.Com degree for me is just for the sake as I am doing CA and I want to pursue my career in it.

Yearly fees structure of the course and scholarship

I paid an yearly fees of 13250 along with examination fee of 350 each semester. The 13250rs included all the necessary registration charges and admission, development fee etc. The scholarship is available for students under Swami Vivekanand scheme, Kanyashree scheme, Aikyashree schemes etc.

Various clubs and library in the campus

There were no annual or technical festivals, We were neither given Freshers Party nor any farewell. The social aspects of the college is not that good, we were a Batch from COVID so Couldn't really interact. There is a central library in 7th floor from where students can lend books. There are projectors in some class rooms. There was little to no extracurricular activities as we were in lockdown. There were no groups, clubs or portals for students life as of my knowledge.

Faculty and learning experience in the campus

The faculty to student ratio is very low, there is a classroom of 250+ students in a single classroom. I never approached the teachers as they seemed not approachable. There were several faculties like Supratim Dey, he was the H.O.D of commerce department and that man had a class. Also there was Jha sir he is very good. I did not like Some female teachers. As for the examination, the internal examination is very easy to attend and the paper is set to give free marks to the students, also the course curriculum is pretty much relevant. There is a very low margin of failure students in that college.

What is the admission process of the campus?

I applied to Heramba Chandra College, Victoria College, Kasiswari, etc along with AJC Bose but I couldn't get selected in time in all these other colleges. I got first selected in AJC Bose that's why I took admission there. I also had been selected in Heramba Chandra College but due to the huge distance and evening timing I could not pursue my degree from there. The admission process of the college is very simple, after 12th results a student needs to apply to this college. On the basis of marks and caste category there are lists published, and according to the list students are selected. Anybody can get admission in Honours here if they have 60%+ marks which is quite low as compared to other colleges.

Classrooms are well maintained with air conditioned

College union and few seniors are there..
Office staff they are a bit casual approach
There are many books in the library but year wise books takes time to set on the library

Choosing this college is basically my dreams cause it doesn't have so many criteria and as a college life if u want to pursue different course then it's the best option to choose this collehe rather than a strict college.. I got chance in college like Charuchandra college and Jaipura college but I choose this because this college does not have other tantrums of attendance so u can pursue your other courses. The admission is through online centralised portal or college portal...It accepts 10+2 result

Horrific adventure

No social events are being performed what so ever, despite of having a huge auditorium
The college campus is small no space for playing and stuff

Our admission process was held through centralized portal for which it is not my fav clg rather i had to get into it left with no other option Yes i got rehected by a college because of seat reservation, as i am an general caste student the seats were less so i didn't got a chance College doesn't have any admission process the admission will be held by centralized portal and your 12th marks will be made your merit inded, better the marks better the college you get, and if you have bad luck like me then you will get bad college

The admission process was very straightforward. There was no unnecessary complexity and I chose AJCBC for its good English curriculum. I was not at all disappointed by the thoroughness of the syllabus, dedicated teacher and helpful staff. The college has a student union but not like those toxic politically aligned ones, but genuinely helps the students.

I chose this college because it has the best education in commerce field and as i was interested in pursuing b.com. I have applied in many other colleges like Goenka, Surendranath and many other colleges. My Admission was done very easily just by achieving the percentage the college required.

I've got selected by all the colleges I've applied, since AJC Bose is near my place I got admitted here I had applied on ashutosh college , jaipuria etc... AJC Bose doesn't have any specific requirements Eligibility criteria is basic 60% for general and 75% and above for honours. And admission procedures are basic online from fill and fee payment from portal.

College doesn't conduct any events neither they give freshers and farewell party

Admission:

Choosing this college behalf of other colleges because when I was taking admission in this college it was number 6th ranking in west bengal. Didn't get rejected from other colleges my name was shortlisted from every college I didn't applied for many colleges but got selected at every college I applied. Admission process of this college in based on merit for general atleast 60% is safe side and for honours 75% is safe.

The college really affordable for students and really close to my home . This college have no such issue of ragging or anything like that. And yeah my name came in this college list , the other colleges I have applied for has high cut offs and they were not so affordable .

The classes are fully air conditioning class
College campus is far more spacious than other colleges

Dislikes

There is no student parking facility available in the campus
There is no canteen in the campus as the canteen is under renovation
The lift of the campus does not work properly

Admission:

I was clear about my college preferences and my first preference was always ajc bose college as it has no requirement for attendance, despite other colleges ask for it so as a ca student I feel like this is the best college

AJC Bose is a state government institute that was established in 1968. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta and recognised by UGC & NCTE. It offers B.Com, B.Ed, BA, and B.Sc programs in various disciplines. AJC Bose provides B.Ed as a flagship program. For admission in the B.Ed program, candidates must have completed a bachelor's/master's degree with 50% marks. AJC Bose B.Ed program fees are INR 32,600 for the first year. AJC Bose Placements 2025 report has not been released yet. However, as per the NIRF report 2024, the median package offered was INR 4.5 LPA, while in 2023, it was INR 3.6 LPA. TCS, TATA, and other banking sector companies regularly hire students from AJC Bose.
