Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose BCOM honours because it aligns with my decision to pursuse Chartered Accountancy. Overall my course curriculum is very well structured, providing the students with all necessary subjects in ordered to become well versed in finance, accountancy, costing and taxation. The curriculum per semester could include less theory and more practical subjects in my opinion in order to inculcate betterment but overall it is very accurate.

Internships Opportunities

4

Different summer internship opportunities are offered by the college in consultation with the placement cell. Different companies like Deloitte, TCS etc offer opportunities with an average stipend of 5000 to 8000 INR.

Placement Experience

4

The students from their 3rd year become eligible for campus placement. Different companies including the Big 4 like Deloitte KPMG etc made offers in 2024-25 and the average package offered in BCOM was 4.5 LPA. I plan on sitting for the placements after i get my degree, that is if im not pursuing my articleship at the time.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am pursuing Bcom Honours and the duration of my course is 3 years and the total fee amounts to 3,87,600 INR. This is generally afforable considering the wide range of scholarship options available to students like Fr. Jorris Memorial Scholarship, Dr Dhruba Chandra Scholarship etc. The course fees has been relatively stable over the years with proper bifurcation between semesters.

Campus Life

5

The overall campus life experience is something i am beyond grateful for. The vibrant people, good faculty and the vintage buildings just add to the glory of the esteemed institution. The library and its reading room is one of my favourites, that is where i have gotten all my academic work done. The college societies are really active and one's involvement in the same helps one learn a lot of new hard and soft skills that is necessary for overall development.

Admission

I chose this college because it was my dream to get into it since I was a kid. My parents always boasted about it and when i got into it i understood why, the faculty, people and everything just made me feel at home. I did give Cuet previously just because all my peers were appearing for the exam but i always wanted to get into St Xavier's and hence i never really checked my course when my admission got confirmed into the college. The admission process comprises of submitting an online application form and if your percentage is good enough to clear the cutoff then you get called for the physical verification and the clearance of the same confirms your admission

Faculty

5

Every class has an average strength of 70-80 students with 3-4 professors assigned the same subject and this makes the whole process of learning really smooth, convenient and not mundane at all. There is one CIA (continuous internal assessment) per semester and there are 2 semester per year. The CIA and semester papers follow a standard pattern but if one pays attention in classes and does the classwork and PPT then its reallt easy to score well.

Night Life

5

St Xavier's College is located at the heart of Kolkata, i.e, park street. The night life is jolly and fun and students can enjoy different snack joints like Arun Tea Stall, Delights and the food truck where they can unwind after classes. Additionally there are different cafes and supermarkets where one can have a cup of coffee after a rough day. Its very safe for the students to roam around the streets near the college even after 10 pm.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course the b.com because I want to become the CA but after completing the graduation my family condition was not very good so I quit my studies and searching for the job. My dream was after B.com then I complete M.com then CA but I couldn't do that. I'm pursuing because I'm interested in understanding how businesses work and want a solid foundation in commerce and finance. It opens up various career paths in accounting, finance, management, and more. Plus, it's a versatile degree that can lead to professional certifications like CA, CS, or MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is of course outdated. Teaching methods are old. No case studies, competitions or project of any sort is there in the curriculum. Although a project of 100 marks is there in the final sem, but I don't think that's enough. There is no practicality in the curriculum and usability in career. The syllabus really needs an uplifment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is average , I chose this course because I wanted to do an honours degree and I'm from commerce background so my first pick was B.Com . They really put efforts to prepare students for well future , as I said earlier some teachers are genuinely very good helpful supporting and good at what they do . Something they need to approve is the 70% attendance criteria, I think they need to understand not every student is just persuing graduation they are doing some other courses or jobs etc so they can't maintain 70% attendance . The frequency of timing is average
