Dislikes
- Poor gender ratio the girl to boy ratio still skewed at around 1.5 to 1.6 this imbalance affects diversity in classroom discussions and extracolor activities and makes the go environment less inclusive compared to institutes 1.52 1.6
- outdated curriculum and labs while some updates happen parts of our syllabus are still outdated especially in fast engine fields like AI data science at VlSI
- Uneven placement support placement opportunities are excellent for top branches but weaker core branches like civilian production students from these branches often need to look outside campus
Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate the course curriculum at our college as moderately strong and fundamentals but in need of modernization two match students industry standards one reason I chose spec was its emphasis on a well structured foundation in mathematics core sciences and branch specific subjects which ensures that student help solid programme solving skills the first year offers a broad base across disciplines followed by focus courses in core branch along with electives and projects in later semesters this structure gave me the confidence that I would gain both theoretical depths and practical exposure In terms of real world preparations the curriculum provides good grounding for further academic pursuits such as gate or higher studies abroad since its covers classical engineering subjects comprehensively however when it comes to rapidly evolving fields the coverage is limited students often rely on external certifications or self study to acquire these in their demand skills the lack of mandatory industry internships or captions style applied projects also leaves a gap between classroom and real world learning applications. The exam system follows a semester pattern with two main exams E semester mid term semester test and end semester exam along with regular internal assessments typically internal accounts for 40% and finals for 60% marks the exams are moderately difficult consistent students ensure passing but scoring very high required deep conceptual clarity the failure rate is low though grade competition is high due to relative evaluation overall the curriculum gives strong academic grounding but must evolve faster to keep pace with real world industry environment
Internships Opportunities
Our college officers strong platform for internship with opportunities coming through the both training and placement sell and faculty driven projects the college maintains strong industry connexions and internships Usually take place after the second and third year during summer breaks companies visiting Our college internship span diverse domain like engineering IT consulting analytics and search major recruiters include Microsoft Amazon gold Gold Lips and data steel maruti Suzuki Hero Motocorp Samsung and core engineering intern stipends range is widely from 15,000 to 80,000 per month with top companies offering even higher packages. Apart from company driven internships pex students also secure research internships at iits and other colleges through platforms like dad and scholarships which not only provide stipends but also contribute to Internet exposure students in ec and rated branches often work on projects in Vlsi immediate systems iot and machine learning while csc and iit students usually engage in software development ai or data science projects mechanical and civil students often get industry projects in design structural analysis manufacturing and cad based work
Placement Experience
Placements at our college are one of the most sought after aspects of Institute and play a crucial role in attracting students the placement process generally begins in the 7th semester where students become eligible to sit for complete drives pre placement talks aptitude drowns according test technical interviews and hour interviews are conducted depending on the profile a wide range of companies visit the campus spanning sectors like core engineering IT data science consulting analytics product based roles denounced recruiters like Microsoft Amazon Gold Demps such as JP Morgan Qualcomm Maruti Tata Motors Deloitte Pwc Infosys Wipro and Assinus among others the product based firms and tech giants usually hire in limited numbers but offer a lucrative packages for instance Microsoft and museums have made offers in range of 40 to 50 lakh per annum with analytics and consulting firms generally offer between eight to 15 lpa the average package of Institute to hover around 10 to 12 lpa varying across branches as for employability pec ensures the student remain industry ready those students still need to up skill through coding for platforms internships and certifications personally after completing my degree I plan to pursue opportunities in data science and Analytics leveraging my college names strong alumni network and my own technical preparation to secure competitive role in the industry
Fees and Financial Aid
PEC Chandigarh is one Of the premier engineering institutions of India and like any reputed govt aided institute It has a structured fee system and provisions for scholarships the total fee for a Btech Course comes to around 7 lakh and for a complete four year programme with yearly charges averaging to 1.7 to 1.8 lakh in the first .Students usually pay a higher amount of around 1.13 lakh which includes admission fees registration charges cost money and development fund , While from the second semester onwards the recurring fee is approximately 94,000 per semester the fee includes tuition charges examination fees laboratory usage libraries and other compulsory charges for postgraduations such as Mtech the total programme fee ranges from 1.35 lakh to 3 lakhs depending on specialisation while phd programmes are much more economical although our college does not publicly display separate fee structure for categories like scst or management quota on its main website it is understood that reserved category students are entitled to get scholarships as government of Indian norms Regarding scholarships our college provides both marine based and need based support the mrds scholarship awards a 25% institution fees and 5% of students in a batch with the cgpa of nine or above with the proof cnrs scholarship grants 20% fee scholarship in addition financially weaker students may need based waivers particularly if they belong to families holding a bpl card although eligibility depends on documentation beyond Institute provided aid the students can also externally scholarship from large corporations seditable foundations and government schemes some of which offer amounts up to 50,000 while the official data on yearly hikes is not clearly available our college fee structure is generally considered moderate compared to private engineering colleges and its combination of financial aid and merit scholarships help ensure that deserving students are not deprived of Education .
Campus Life
Campus life at my college is vibrant diverse and full of opportunities that extend beyond academics this institute is well known for its festivals with Peck Fest being the annual cultural festival usually held in November attracting participants across from India and Technovate Service as the major technical festival generally organised in March showcasing innovation projects and hackathons the library central hub for learning housing a wide range of textbook research generals and E resources and difference materials with easy digital ss through online portals making it convenient for students preparing for competency exams or research projects the classroom with the modern teaching aids such as projectors audiovisio visual standard sports and extracurricular activities are a vital part of our life here the campus has grounds of cricket football hockey and basketball and tennis and along with an indoor stadium for Badminton table tennis and gym facilities encouraging fitness and team spirit students are also find ample scope for creative expression through clubs and societies like music and matrix clubs robotics club and E Cell and ieee student chapter and Rotect Club among many others the clubs not only host regular workshops and also events but also serve as a platform for leadership and teamwork social engagement is tenants through student trend portals and societies that manage everything from tech competitions to social awareness campaigns helping students balance academic with co curricular growth overall offers environment where academic blend seamless with cultural and technical and social experience shaping students into well rounded individuals
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities at our college are quite friendly and cover all basic needs rooms are usually shared and come with a bad suitable cheer and mirror for each occupant washrooms are common but regularly maintained WiFi connectivity is provided across laundry service are available the mech service vegetarian no vegetarian meals whether rotating menus including dal subzero tea rice and occasional specialties like paneer dosa sweets while the descent and hygienic it can feel repeatedly overtime though the most suggest well registration for hostels is done online during admissions. Overall Arc College Horses provide a balanced mix of overwardly comedy life and essential facilities while pgs nearby servant as an alternative for those seeking edited convenience
Admission
When I was supplying for injury colleges I considered a mix of national level and state altitudes apart from my college I applied to students such as Nit Institute of Engineering uiet And a couple of private universities I secured an invitation offers from Thapar in UIT but ultimately chose Peck because of its strong refutation government added status and affordable fee structure compared to private institutions and its location I didnt make it into some higher ranked colleges due to my JE main ranks failing slightly short for their cut off in hindsight what went wrong was merely performance in one of the Gmail sessions where silly mistakes cost me critical marks nevertheless my college being among the top institutes under JE main counselling was still a strong choice and I was satisfied with my allocation The admission process at my colleagues conducted through the Josa and csap based on J main scores there is no separate entrance exam for Peck jmen is the only gateway the Liberty requires candidates to have completely 10 + 2 with physics domestic mathematics the cut off ranks were very every year and differ by a branch for cse and the cut off usually lies within the top 10,000 to 20,000 ranks in Jaime while for ec and mechanical it says further and for branches like Civil or production the cut off is comparatively relaxed that admission experience is sinematic systematic after Jayman results counselling takes place online followed by seat allotment documentation verification and fee payment overall I choose pack because I it offered me a government recognise degree strong aluminium base and good placement in my branch and lower financial burden compared to private colleges while I couldn't make it to iits or top colleges peck gave me an excellent alternative with strong carrier prospects
Faculty
The faculty at R College is a mix of highly experienced professors and young faculty members the faculty to student ratio averages around 1 ratio 20 though it varies by department in most branches teachers are approachable outside class and many are willing to guide students with projects internships and research work professors with phd background especially in core branches like ece mechanical and civil bring deep academic knowledge while younger faculty often connect better with students due to their more interactive teaching style The student faculty relationship is generally positive though in larger classes personal mentorship can sometimes be limited the core structure at our college follows semester system with eight semesters for Btech programme the first message is common across all branches focusing on fundamental sciences mathematics and introductory engineering subjects from 2nd year onwards branches specific subjects dominates with elective and open elective in latest mistress practical lab workshops and projects work are included but many students feel that parts of our curriculum are outdated in fast evolving fields like ai data science and machine learning the exam system continues and balance between the midsem test and endsam examination and internal assessment such as assignments projects and quizzes the marking scheme usually gives 40% weightage to internal assessment 60% to end semester exams though that exact distribution may vary by subject exams are more likely difficult not excessively tough to pass but demanding consistent preparations to score high on average the failure rate is low as spec focus is more on learning than elimination overall the curriculum is moderately rigorous and academically solid providing a strong foundation in engineering but the space of slaves moderation needs improvement to align with industry demands while some professors inspire with clarity and mentorship others stick to outdated methods .
Night Life
Nightlife at my college is more vibrant socialising than late night parties as the campus follows a timings the hostel generally close at around 10:00 PM with students expected inside by then while the gym library and cafeterias shut down by 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM public areas on campus get quite post evening through though the hostel, rooms remain lively with discussions using an indoor games inside my college popular hangout spots include the student centre college loads and canteens like Nescafe where groups often gather until late evenings outside the campus students often visit sector 17 plaza in Lantemall and cafes in 15 and 35 which are buzzing with the college crowds the locality around Pak is considered safe and well patrolled allahu explore nearby eateries and market without worry these are shared hangouts and casual lights outings player role in easy academic stress and shaping at overall pack experience
