Course Curriculum Overview

4

the things taught are somewhat relevant in the respective core branches, however one main issue is that most companies that come on campus for hiring are for CSE branch and lvery few companies come for core hiring. Practical knowlege is not taught and exams are usually not that difficult. however difficulty also depends on the particular instructor.

Placement Experience

4

Campus placements are overall decent. Some students usually the top 10 percenrt students get high packages north of 15 lakhs and some even get 35-70 lakhs. but this number is very small and most students get around 4-10 lpa. around 60 to 70 percent students get placed combining on and off campus placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

the yearly fee at PEC is around 188000 and scholarships are available for EWS candidates who score the highest in their respective sections. Scholarships are also available for SC/ST students with their fee being 4000 for the odd semesters and 94000 for even semesters. Scholarships are also avialable for students with less income like BPL if they can provide income proofs.

Campus Life

4

overall experience was decent but sometimes youface difficulties from your seniors and teachers. sports is poor at this colege as most students who get admission here are studious and lesser students are inclined towards sports. Smartboards are avialble in teh classrooms and different clubs like music club, Punajb editorial board etc are avialble for students to meet different kpeople.

Admission

i chose PEC over other colleges because of the brand value which i thought would be beneficial in the long run and at that time the placement record was very good. I was not reject by any other college i applied. Admission in PEC is through JEE mains rank and counselling sessions are there.

Faculty

3

There is less faculty in our college than the needed faculty, dueto this phd students often have to conduct lectures in place of the teachers. the older faculty is mostly not interested in teaching and the placement cell is not supportive to the students. Teachers dont care abourt the students or their careers and some are even vocal about it, however, some teachers are very dedicated but they are powerless in PEC.

Night Life

4

the nighlife is poor specifically for pec. there was a recent suicide of a first year student in our college which led to stricter regulations, some of them being illogical, for example fodd cant be delivered at night etc. Hostel timings for students is around 10 pm and chandigarh is usually safe to roam at night.

Other Applied Colleges

university Institute of engineering & Technology | Information Technology

I didn't opt for UIET as the alumini network and placement record of Punjab Engineering College was slightly better in comparision and offered more learning opportunities with special labs like fabrication labs( Semiconductor Research Centre, Siemens Lab

Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology - [CCET] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)

CCET is a very good place if you want to get your engineering degree at a lower cost and get a bang for your buck and a decent ROI. However, it lacks the resources, alumini network and the brand value that PEC posseses and in my opinion pursuing a B.Tech

Course Curriculum Overview:

The whole curriculum focuses on the cramming power, not on the practical knowledge. Students have to do the tech stack on their own for the placements. Students must do the internship so that he/she will gain some practical knowledge and a chance to gain hands-on experience.

The curriculum is based of the current industry patterns and is really good . There could be areas of improvements in terms of first year subjects but other than that its very good . the frequency of exams is good and sufficient time is given . they are of moderate level depending on the subject teachers

For improvement in teaching methods, they can go digital, like using smartboards, or use more practical teaching methods, or maybe just improve the way of teaching simply. Teaching methods here really need upgrades, mostly students here have to rely on youtube when exams come near.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been lowered by 10-20% recently, but they are getting better. You will get a job if you manage cgpa above 7 and are decent with your skills, but then don't dream for 20lpa + jobs, you need to work upon yourself in silence to get 25-50 lpa packages and they do happen in our colleges, highest package in electrical 2024-25 was 52 lpa and in ece cse they had 61 lpa. Companies start coming in 3rd year for internships, only 10% manage to get intern in 3rd year, companies like microsoft, atlassian, flipkart, mercedes, jp morgan etc. they do come. Placement perecentage is like 75-80% in electrical and it is very low in civil (around 40-50%), in cse it is like 90% or even higher. My plan is to get an intern asap. (Maybe in 2nd year theough offcampus)
