What Students Say
Likes
- Equal opportunities for both the genders.
- Scholarships based on merit basis and also on the basis of annual income because of which everyone gets a chance to pursue the study without getting worried about the expense.
- Great companies visit in the campus to hire.
Dislikes
- Wifi connectivity inside the college is not as expected.
- Personal networks also don't work properly inside the college premesis.
- They allow the students to sit in the placements on the basis of the cgpa which is not good like cgpa cannot decide the capability of a person to work hands on.
Course Curriculum Overview
The whole curriculum focuses on the cramming power, not on the practical knowledge. Students have to do the tech stack on their own for the placements. Students must do the internship so that he/she will gain some practical knowledge and a chance to gain hands-on experience.
Internships Opportunities
Microsoft, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and many other companies visit the campus, which offer roles in every field, like sales and marketing, content creation, finance, SDE, etc. I have done projects with the scientists of CSIR-CSIO because of my college. Students of PEC get good recognition outside the college, so they get very good chances in every field.
Fees and Financial Aid
My yearly fee is 188000 INR. The semester-wise breakdown is 94000. Yes, the category students have the benefit in fee waiver. They have to pay 100000 in total per year. The semester-wise breakdown is that in odd semesters, they have to pay 94000, and in even semesters, they have to pay 6000. Yes, the different merit cum scholarships go side by side.
Campus Life
Overall, campus life is good, as the students are very friendly, and everybody can make friends in college easily. The location of the college is very great, like the Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, and The Cafes are very close to the college.
Admission
I had chosen this college because Chandigarh is my home state, and I am a single child, so my priority is my parents. I was open to choosing any college, but they are far from my home, so that's why I have chosen Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is quite good in the old branches, but the newly opened branches face some challenges, which I am sure will be resolved. Dr. Jaskirat Mam and Gaurabh Das sir are the faculties which i like the most, as they are very helpful with every student. They don't judge the students on the basis of their behaviour in the class.
Night Life
The college has its own gym with an indoor badminton court. There is also a swimming pool in which the timings for girls and boys are different, so everybody can enjoy irrespective of gender. The library timings are too good, and it gets extended when exams come near. Club activities are very exciting. Pecfest is the cultural fest you can enjoy on stalls, and singers also come at night to organise the DJ nights.
Other Applied Colleges
National Institute of Technology - [NIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics & Communication Engineering)
Because PEC is in my home state.
