Course Curriculum Overview

4

aspects of my curriculum made me choose this course are a deeper and comprehensive guide into the literature of the world and india, specially diving deeper into the literary theory and deconstruction of literature under this course. The curriculum does prepare you quite well for real world application. You can look for a good future in academia and research. Areas for improvement could be inclusion of certain texts that have been removed by the University, since they were foundational and important texts. The frequency of exams is less, we do not have mid semester exams like private colleges so that is a plus and we get ample time to encounter even tough questions that come in the semester exams.

Internships Opportunities

3

The placement cell and the college offers various internship offers annually. Apart from the placement companies, college offers the principal internship scheme and the vice chancellor internship scheme, they are unpaid but are very good for the CV. Companies like codingninja, event, bajaj capital, etc. offer internships at our college through the placement cell. The stipend ranges around 5k to 20k average. Roles like business development intern, sales intern, etc are popular.

Placement Experience

3

Students become eligible for campus placement in thier third year of study and are eligible for internships throughout. Companies like the big 4 and all other renowned companies like wipro and all visit the college. Highest packages go around 12-13 lakhs while the average stay around 6 lakhs. Around 40-50 companies visit for placement every year and if internships are added the number goes over a 100. Percentage of students getting placed is generally lesser because of the completion again. A right guess would be around 15 percent. My plans after the degree is to apply for masters and PhD abroad.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tution fees for my course (arts) is 180 rs. College student welfare: 10,150 rs. University Student welfare: 250 rs. University development fund: 1500 rs. College development fund: 3000 rs. University facilities and services: 1500 rs. College facilities and services: 2160 rs. Economically weaker section support: 250 rs. And DUSU fund as 40 rs. The total fees comes to 19030 rs. It's the same for commerce too. However, the total fees for science is 20,630 rs and for M.A. and M.Com courses it is 17, 866. There are various scholarships and awards ranging from rs. 15000 to rs. 500 based on Merit + Needs and for specific courses too. The fees is increasing, on an average of 2,000 rupees per year.

Campus Life

3

The annual fest tide happens in March and other than that their are various departmental fests like Sonnet, the literary fests happening in February-March. The library is a two-story large library and you can get almost any book required for the course and more. Some of the classes have a smart screen, otherwise they are traditional classrooms with a black board, a podium and wooden benches. There are various sports and extracurricular activities that the college offers. There's a criteria of admission based on excellence in these categories. I, myself got admissions from the sports quota, other than that, there are cultural and extracurricular societies as well for these activities. There are student run political parties too, along with the clubs and societies that the college has to offer.

Admission

So basically, DU has a preference list systems. I didn't choose the college, but I had it on a certain priority on my preference list and i was alloted this college based on my CUET scores. The only reason I couldn't get colleges placed higher on my preference list was the competition and the cut off marks. I had colleges like Stephen's, hindu and KMC placed higher above ARSD, but the competition got the better of me.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is fair. Although there is no specified data we can find on the website but it is not huge. The faculty is kind and very approachable. They are very helpful. From my course we have eminent names like Dr. Gautam Chaubey, Dr. Achingliu Kamei, who are authors of excellent books and the names im not mentioning are equally great in a lot of different aspects. There is no such faculty yet that I didn't like. However, the administration seems to be frustrating. There are a lot of pertaining issues that can be fixed but the admin seems to be very lazy about them. There are semester wise exams, meaning two in an year. Other than that internals like continuos assessments go on the whole year. The marks have almost equal weightage on the internals and the theory. Some subjects have practicals too, with divided weightage in internals. The exam difficulties depend completely on the course and the scoring capabilities of that particular course. The course curriculum is continuously being reformed under the university, with certain aspects useless and certain aspects very good for the students.

Night Life

1

There's no nightlife in the college, since there's no hostel, however there's a nightlife outside college, but because delhi being a dangerous city in itself, students prefers to hang around in the daytime. We have stalls like Nescafe and mother dairy booth for snacking.Otherwise, nothing more than that.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I kind of do not understand the point of studying ancient statecraft and political theory. As much as these subjects could be valued by some, in my opinion, I know that i'm NEVER going to have to use these topics in my daily life. So why make it such a big issue? I suppose they should focus more on topics like geopolitics, which would definitely affect our day to day life.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have a keen interest in theoretical subjects. Even in my school time, I liked theory subjects more than practical or numerical subjects. This is one of the reason I chose this specific course. Another reason is that I like reading non fictional novels. At the age of 15, I started reading novels but after diving into this course I'm liking the fictional novels too. I don't think this course needs to improve anything. It is in it's best form at the point.

I think students become eligible for campus placements in 5th semester as now they are mature enough to be given such responsibility and to secure their future. I am not aware about the number of companies and offers. I am also not aware about the highest or lowest package offered but the average package for my college is ?6.5 lakhs per annum. The cgpa should be above 7.5 for better chances of getting placements. My plan is to get a good college placement in starting of the 5th semester.
