- Helpful environment. The seniors are cooperative.
- The area is quite small, but nice. The gardens look pleasing.
- Friendly environment among peers. Easier to connect.
Dislikes
- The concept of "Midsem exams" brought this year itself. I get it that preparation and revision is necessary, but we are already kept busy by tons of assignments, and many colleges don't even have midsems! It's a burden!
- The pressure of the societies. The union is sometimes too demanding, to the point that they message us personally and refuse to accept reasons for our unavailability. As if we don't have a life outside the societies
- The compulsory rule to join one of the NSS, NCC or NSO. Literally NO OTHER COLLEGE has this rule. And it isn't benefitting us in any way!
Course Curriculum Overview
I kind of do not understand the point of studying ancient statecraft and political theory. As much as these subjects could be valued by some, in my opinion, I know that i'm NEVER going to have to use these topics in my daily life. So why make it such a big issue? I suppose they should focus more on topics like geopolitics, which would definitely affect our day to day life.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am a first year student of B.A. (Hons) Political Science in Daulat Ram College. The fees for my course is higher compared to other colleges of North Campus DU (32000 rupees), which is disappointing in my opinion, as the teaching style is no different from other colleges. Everyone studies the same thing. Though there are scholarships, they are only for students with very poor financial conditions, I have not been informed about the scholarship offers for the students of middle class who wish to gain it.
Campus Life
I would say the campus life is both good and not. Thanks to the friends i have made here, time is easier to pass by. All of us count the days till we could be free from here. So for my connections, it's a solid 10. As for infrastructure, I suppose all of the north campus colleges are this way, and I don't think I could do much to change it.ECA are also pretty well I guess
Admission
This college was number 5th on my preference list. I had to come here because my CUET score was 852. I wanted to go to Hindu college, but that was impossible. I even opted to upgrade, but nothing could be done. This college takes too much fees for the same activities as others. Had I known better, I would've opted out. The process for admission is the same as other colleges.
Faculty
As I told before, our college decided to have midsem exams from this year, which is utterly unnecessary. Students didn't performed well in those exams due to lack of preparation and the course not being completed by professors. This really downgraded our confidence, which is a shame. The faculty is good, but could be better.
Night Life
Well, some go to library, some go to canteen, some to hostel, others prefer the lawn. The closing time of library is 6 pm. I don't know much about nighttime, since I'm not a hosteller. Some even go to the rooftop in winters.
