- Ambitious crowd. Highly ambitious, motivating people from all across India comes to study in Xavier's. This provides a perfect ground to network with such people.
- Respect. Being the 6th best college for Commerce across India, just the tag of "Xaverian" brings out a proud feeling and people also seem to value people from Xavier's more.
- Placement and internship opportunities. College provides us with ample of internship opportunities throughout all the years.
Dislikes
- ACs not available for every rooms. Only few of the rooms have air conditioner.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college's syllabus mostly aligns with the syllabus of the CA curriculum. If you're a CA student, you would've an edge over others. End sem exams are conducted in the morning with the morning and evening batch giving exam at the same time, however, CIA happens during their usual college timing.
Placement Experience
Internship opportunities are available for every year student. Placements are provided in the third year. 100+ companies including Big 4, banks, tech companies etc. come with placement offers. Highest package usually cross 25+ LPA and the minimum package provided is 4LPA. Students are placed after various rounds of test. Mostly there are 3 rounds of test- written exam, GD and PI.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees for B.Com(H) co-ed (Eve batch) is around 1.2L yearly, there is a little increment in fees as we advance to the next academic year. The fees for B.Com(H) boys only (morning batch) is around 65k yearly.
Campus Life
Xavotsav is the annual fest of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. There remains a hype for Xavotsav all over Kolkata. The library provides the perfect atmosphere to study, you will always find someone, sitting in the library and studying, which induces you to study as well, enhancing productivity. There are 40+ societies in St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. It is highly recommended to join one of these societies, you will make friends and memories worth remembering a lifetime. There are also multiple inter-college and intra-college events that take place.
Admission
The cutoff for B.Com(H) is usually around 90% for CISCE students and a slight higher for CBSE students. I chose St. Xavier's College, Kolkata over the other colleges I applied to because of its crowd, reputation and societies. Little did I know, this college has more to offer than what I expected.
Faculty
The faculty of St. Xavier's College is highly experienced. The teachers are friendly and try their best to help us with doubts, even beyond college hours. There are 2 exams in a semester- CIA and the end-sem exam. There is also a seminar conducted for each subject. Marks is also given on seminars and attendance.
Night Life
Park Street area is always awake, you will always find people on the road, whether due to offices, colleges, school or restaurant or pub. Library closes at 6:00p.m. The college hostel is strict and disciplined. Within the campus, people hang out at the Green Benches and the cafeteria. However, Xavierian's have few favorite spots outside campus- ATS, Nandus, Agarwals, Shibuji, Expresscafe, Delights, the food truck etc.
