Course Curriculum Overview
There are many scopes in Electrical Engineering, one can do work in an industry, prepare for govt exams, or higher studies etc. The syllabus of Electrical Engineering also covers subjects from Mechanical and Computer Science Engineering, so one can apply for relevant industry for a job. The syllabus is quite large and covers unnecessary topics like C, C++. We get 7-8 months for odd semester and 4-5 months for even semester.
Internships Opportunities
The Training & Placement Cell in our college provides the students opportunities to apply for internships, some of them are free of cost, and few of them may provide a stipend to the student.
Placement Experience
From seventh or eighth semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Adobe, Trident, Siemens, Infosys have visited, and I don't know the exact number of offers as some offer gets rejected by students sometimes for a better opportunity. The highest package was 27 LPA and average package is around 4LPA-8LPA. I don't have the exact data related to the percentage of students getting placements but a rough estimate is around 50 per cent. I have plans to do higher studies and then I'll apply for any job after graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am pursuing Bachelor's of Technology in Electrical Engineering, so as per the fees structure I have to pay 6000 rs per year The Tution fees is free(as it is a govt college), caution fees is 600rs (refundable), medical services & insurance fee is 600rs, Games fees is 500 rs, Library fees is 100 rs, Training & Counselling fees is 1200 rs. There are various scholarships available, for economically weaker section scholarships like Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means(SVMCM) and West Bengal Freeship scheme are available.
Campus Life
Every year a college fest named Alfresco, is held. In this annual festival students participates in quizes, technical festivals, sports, various competitions, treasure hunt, fashion show etc. It is celebrated 4-5 days by doing variety of activities, which a student can enjoy. It is typically held on April or May. There are books related to the academics available. Those books might feel a bit old, but it contains all contents from syllabus. Every classroom has at least a whiteboard and a projector so that student can understand the topics visually by studying in these digital classrooms. Many sports events are held throughout the year. Students can participate in daily sports on hostel ground. Also Blood donation camp, tree plantation camp etc are held on college campus. In our college, there are student-run social groups, like Google Developer Group and Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador available.
Hostel Facilities
Basic requirements like light, fan is assured by the hostel, very safe and sound place is provided to the students. Also, wifi is provided in the hostel rooms. Students in hostel are provided good quality meals as breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. Students can apply for hostel in 1st year, if any seat is allocated in hostel the student has to pay only 3200 rs in four years, which is quite affordable. There are many PGs and rented rooms available in the Gorabazar, Ranibagan, Indraprastha and Laldighi area which is near to the college.
Admission
I applied for Academy of Technology, but the fees were too high in my opinion so I stepped back and applied for this college. I applied for AoT in the first counselling but I applied for second counselling and got admitted in this college. To apply for this college you need to get around 15000 rank (for general category) in WBJEE, also diploma students can apply for this college through JELET exam. The admission fees is quite low and very hassle free process.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 43:400, so they can give their attention to every students and most of them are quite friendly in nature. The faculties of my department, electrical engineering, they are quite helpful, discipline and very good at teaching. They are all good in nature. To be honest, I can't think of a single one faculty that I don't like. Maybe some are very strict but all they do is guide students into right path. There are total 4 continous assessments and 2 practical assessments and a semester exam in a whole semester, assessments are quite easy but the semester question might be hard and very unpredictable, the exam papers are set and checked by the University(MAKAUT). Only a few people get backlog every year, but the number is quite small.
Night Life
A gym is available in the hostel campus, a canteen in college, this college is situated in a very accessible place so there are many cafeterias around the college, and a Murshidabad district library near the college. There is a student hostel only for boys, in 1 kilometre distance from the college.
