Course Curriculum Overview

5

Course work is 9.5/10 Some subjects have minor overlaps and this might feel repetitive to the students, however, the subjects are pretty decent, easy to understand and interesting. There are mostly elective subjects, so you get lot of options to choose from. The classes are mostly mornings (9am) while lab sessions are in afternoon.

Internships Opportunities

3

It is not exactly internship, but we have industrial visits, expert talks, and seminars for the students. This time, its in THERMO-FISHER, Bangalore. The expert talks are by leading scientists from labs and industries from across the country. The projects provided to the students are also very relevant.

Placement Experience

3

Placements are mostly conducted with AMRITA school of pharmacy, and managed by the CIR team (They take care to develop and mould students from 1st semester in aptitude, English and soft skills). The package is, on average, between 3.5 - 5 LPA. The centre also has an opportunity to join back as JRF/PhD.

Fees and Financial Aid

I studied here from 2023 August to May 2025. My semester fee was approximately 1LPA per semester. Apart from that, a caution deposit of Rs. 5000 was collected on the time of admission. The course MOLECULAR MEDICINE is available in both M.Tech and M.Sc degrees. The lab facilities are really good and the faculties are also good in explaining. The first year is mostly course work followed by labs, which are mostly groupwork. However the second year is entirely project, and it is supposed to be done individually. This will give an broader idea and a much clearer knowledge of the entire subject.

Campus Life

4

We have celebrations for ONAM, CHRISTMAS, and dedicated 3 days of ARTS and SPORTS. Other than these days, we have college foundation day, GURU Purnima also. Since the centre is in hospital premise, we don't engage in loud celebrations, as it may affect patients.

Admission

The admission process for masters is through Interview and marks in the previous qualifying examinations. GATE score is preferred however not mandatory. I applied for SRM and VIT, but chose AMRITA because of the NIRF rankings. The centre is along with the hospital campus, so its good opportunity for life science students.

Faculty

5

There are almost 20 faculties here in the Centre for Nanosciences. All of them are well known scientists, who have interdisciplinary interests and ideas. Its great to work with them. The projects(final year graduation and post-graduation) are directly under the faculties. The labs are very neat, have good and updated technologies and latest equipment. Even if you have zero knowledge, its a good place to learn things from scratch. The exams are held twice a year, in May and December. The course work has monthly assessments, assignments and seminars.

Night Life

5

Night view of campus is too good. It's calmer and more peaceful. The daytime are much more crowded as the campus gets international patients too. The hostels have fixed timings too, and those are within the campus. The boys hostel is at a walking distance.

Placement Experience:

Placements for Mtech Instrumentation Technology at Cochin University of Science and Technology are moderate. Students become eligible for placements from the third semester. Companies from Electronic, automation, software, and core engineering field visit the campus. The average package is around 5-7 LPA, and placement opportunities mainly depends on student skills and projects. Many students choose higher studies, research after completing the course.

Placement Experience:

IIT Palakkad performs admirably under the direction of IIT Madras, and the college's placement record is as impressive. The college achieves a placement rate of 100 percent. The placement committee at the college is so dedicated that they are able to not only attract good firms but also assist us during the placement stages. Our batch's maximum package was 35 LPA, while the average package was roughly 15 LPA. During the placement drive, companies such as Google, Arista Network, TCS Research, McKinsey, Honeywell, Texas Instruments, and Microsoft visited the campus.

Remarks:

College management is efficient. But the office staff is irresponsible. We have to give our certificates before admission, but they will store the certificates as a irrelevant piece of paper. We got our certificates back as folded and dirty.
