Al Shifa College of Nursing Admission Dates 2026

Admissions for the 2026-27 session are now open across all three programmes. B.Sc Nursing and P.B.B.Sc Nursing follow the LBS Centre for Science and Technology’s Centralised Allotment Process (CAP). M.Sc Nursing follows a separate KUHS PG Nursing counselling process managed through the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Kerala portal.

Entrance requirements differ across programmes. B.Sc Nursing does not require a separate entrance examination in Kerala. M.Sc Nursing admission is merit-based on the KUHS PG Nursing Entrance. The programme-wise admission basis is summarised below.

Al Shifa College of Nursing Courses and Fees

Al Shifa College of Nursing offers three nursing programme levels under KUHS affiliation: undergraduate, post-basic, and postgraduate. Total intake capacity across all programmes is approximately 106 students per year. All programmes are INC-recognised and lead to KUHS degrees.

M.Sc Nursing seats are limited to 4 per specialisation (16 total), making PG admissions selective. Child Health Nursing carries a higher fee (INR 3,20,000) compared to the other three M.Sc specialisations (INR 2,60,000 each).

Al Shifa College of Nursing Admission Process

B.Sc Nursing

B.Sc Nursing admission is centralised through the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, using the Single Window Centralised Allotment Process (CAP). No separate entrance test is held for B.Sc Nursing in Kerala.

• 10+2 (HSE, CBSE, or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as compulsory subjects
• Minimum 45% aggregate in PCB for general category candidates (minimum 40% for SC/ST)
• Age: minimum 17 years as on 31 December of the admission year; upper limit 35 years
• Selection: LBS Centre merit rank based on Class 12 marks through the online single-window CAP

As a NCMEI-recognised Muslim minority institution, Al Shifa reserves 20% of government quota seats for minority community candidates on merit, in addition to standard SEBC (30%) and SC/ST (10%) reservations.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing (P.B.B.Sc)

This lateral-entry programme is open to registered nurses with a GNM diploma. Admission follows the same LBS Centre CAP system as B.Sc Nursing.

• Completed GNM diploma from an INC-recognised institution with minimum 50% aggregate
• Valid RN/RM registration with the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC)
• 10+2 with Science subjects required as part of the candidate’s academic background

M.Sc Nursing

M.Sc Nursing admissions are centralised through KUHS via the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Kerala portal. Candidates are allotted seats based on KUHS PG Nursing Entrance merit and state reservation norms.

• B.Sc Nursing or P.B.B.Sc Nursing from an INC-recognised institution with minimum 55% aggregate
• Minimum 1 year post-graduation professional nursing experience
• Valid RN/RM registration. Distance education nursing degrees are not eligible

The 2026 M.Sc Nursing allotment is expected in June 2026, with programme commencement in August 2026.

Al Shifa College of Nursing Placements and Career Outcomes

Al Shifa College of Nursing does not hold a formal campus placement drive. Nursing graduates secure employment through hospital recruitment networks, clinical referrals, and Kerala’s well-established Gulf nursing pipeline. The college maintains a Placement Cell that assists students with job applications and career guidance.

Clinical training at KIMS Al Shifa Super Specialty Hospital, a 450-bed, NABH-accredited, 37-department tertiary care centre attending to over 1,200 patients daily, gives students direct exposure to complex case management across all major nursing specialisations from the first year onwards. The on-campus NORKA NIFL Satellite Centre, the first of its kind in Kerala, provides structured foreign language training for students targeting Gulf region employment.

Academic infrastructure includes 7 specialised nursing laboratories covering nursing foundations, anatomy, community health, child health, nutrition, obstetrics, and microbiology-pathology-biochemistry. The library holds over 3,330 books, 29 journals, and 154 CDs, with a reading capacity of 125 students. A computer lab with internet access and campus-wide WiFi supports academic work and digital learning.

Candidates from northern Kerala commonly compare Al Shifa with other KUHS-affiliated private nursing colleges in the Malabar region. Baby Memorial College of Nursing and KMCT College of Nursing, both in Kozhikode, are frequently considered alongside Al Shifa during the LBS Centre CAP choice-filling process.

Baby Memorial Hospital offers a large multi-specialty clinical environment in Kozhikode. KMCT provides a medical college hospital setting.
