What Students Say
Likes
- The college is a safe environment for the girls. We can move around very freely in here.
- This is an all girls college. Hence, there are no boys at all.
- The teachers here are genuinely into making the students study. Be it their effective ppt's or their teaching methods, they leave no stone unturned to make the students understand the concepts.
Dislikes
- The college societies are not good. It should be improved.
- The canteen is not good at all. We do not have many options to avail from.
- The internship opportunities provided to us are not good enough.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum for the core subjects I would say is pretty good. But the elective subjects, the optional subjects ,etc are not good. We do not have a really good faculty for that. There could be better teachers appointment for the same. The elective and optional subjects do not prepare us for the real world settings. The exams are done as per Delhi University curriculum.
Internships Opportunities
There are 90 percent unpaid internships available. Mostly are for sales . If not sales then maybe HR intern, Founder's office intern, etc. I would rate our college 3/10 in terms of internship offerings.
Placement Experience
From the 5th semester. Companies like Deloitte, KPMG, BANK OF AMERICA, EY, etc visit our college for placements . Deloitte takes in the maximum students . Approximately, 25. 50-60 percent students get placed for the commerce . I plan to pursue my MBA after this.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have to pay approx 18,000 for a year . There is an additional examination fee for every semester which ranges from 1000-2000 approx depending upon the subjects you choose. The other courses like bcom(prog.) have almost the same fee. There are all kinds of aids available for the students. Laptops are provided to students who do not have them, financial aid is provided to the students who have not that stable financial positions. The whole fee is reimbursed for them.
Campus Life
The annual fest is known as reverie. This is held in February. No other colleges students are allowed, be it girls college or a coed one. The library has very less number of books of the curriculum which is being followed. There are e boards, fans, lights and wooden benches in the classrooms. The sports are pretty good. The college societies are not worth it.
Admission
I applied to the top 10 Delhi University colleges like LSR, HINDU, KMC, RAMJAS, SRCC, VENKY,etc.I was not eligible for them due to my CUET score. In order to get into Gargi College you need to go through the CUET exam else there is no other way.
Faculty
There are approx three sections for every course and all of them have a different teacher for the same subject. Hence, the ratio is pretty fine. The best faculty that I would say is Dr. Nidhi Gupta from the commerce department. She is the best teacher I got in the entire journey . She makes tons of efforts to make the students understand. The exams are as per the DU curriculum. But the Continuous Assessments are done twice or thrice depending upon subject to subject. The exams are pretty decently curated.
Night Life
There is no night life or something of this sort because there is no hostel in the college. There is only a canteen in the college along with a Nescafe outlet and a mother dairy outlet ,nothing else.
Other Applied Colleges
Banaras Hindu University - [BHU] | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] {Hons.}
Because DU has a better exposure as compared to BHU
