Course Curriculum Overview

5

During my preparation days i was supposed to choose Cse but after result i was getting ece in nit silchar , so i choose ece as by branch and it turned very good for me,because the curicullum is very understanding to me and managable There is a lot of scope for improvement in the curicullum as the college is still following the old curicullum and it is not sufficient for real world applications .So there is a scope of improvement in the curicullum. There are frequent exams scheduled in the academic calender .The exams are mid-sem,minor test, class test and the most important is end semester examination. The mid sem exam is for 1 hour and class test and minor exam is for half an hour and the end sem exam is for 2 hours. As per me the difficulty level is medium and some questions are from class notes and some questions are twisted and that questions are cgpa deciding questions.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are many comapnies visited every year in our college. Comapies like microsoft , google , atlasian , wipro and other big companies visits every year in our campus . There main focus is to give prior knowledge about the industrial work.

Placement Experience

4

The campus placement is good. The internship is also very good. The training and placement cell is working very hard to fulfil the demands of students. Frome the 5th semester onwards ,the students are eligible for campus internships and from 7th semester onwards they are eligible for campus placements. This year more than 200 companies visited Nit silchar more than 800 offers were given by the companies to the students. This year the highest package is 60 lpa and the average package is 15lpa. More than 85% students got placed this year. I am also planning to get job in big giants like google , microsoft, atlassian, amazon, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am a student of Nit silchar pursuing Btech in Electronics and Communication Engineering .I am currently in the 1st year and i am paying Rs 67000 per year excluding the mess fees. As i am an obc student with family income below 1 lakh so i have paid Rs 0 as tuition fees.We are having mess fees Rs 45000 per year. The institute has taken Rs 20000 as caution money which will be returned by the college after successful completion of our btech degree. The college has charged Rs 11000 per semester for all other fees like registration fees, admission fees, development fees, lab fees, medical facility charges, gym charges, water charges ,tv charges, mess managememt charge, hostel seat rent, light charges,T&P charges etc.One of my friend who is the general category student has paid 73500 per semester as tution fees and rest all fees are same for all the categories. Some of the scholarships that are available for students are Reliance Foundation scholarship(Rs 2lakh annualy for ug students),Pm yashasvi scholaship( Rs 80000 for ug students),Central sector scholaship(Rs 10000 annualy for ug students),ffe scholarship(Rs 50000 annualy for ug students).

Campus Life

4

There are mainly two fests happen in Nit Silchar : Tecnoesis and Incandesence. Tecnoesis occurs mainly in the month of November and incandesence occur in the the month of February. There is a wide variety of books available in our library. The Nit Silchar's library is Asia's biggest digital library. So every book is present in our library. The classroms are good and there is no digital board availble in the classroom There is grounds for every sport in our college like cricket ground, football ground, basketball ground etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

We get one table, fan and bed in the room and a wardrobe where we can keep our all the things . The meal quality is not as expected. We get variety of foods every week ,chicken everyday for non veg students and paneer for vegetarian students.

Admission

I applied in Nit Durgapur,Nit kurukshetra, nit manipur,Nit raipur,Nit silchar.I got offer from Nit silchar,Durgpaur.I choose Nit silchar over other colleges due to easy travelling as it is just 10 hour from my home and the ranking of Nit silchar is also good. The admission process is very managable and easy. There are seniors and professors for our help in the admission process .Firstly we need to verify all the documents like caste certificate ,income certificate , medical fitness certificate , birth certificate ,class 10 and 12 marksheet, aadhar card, admissiom cum letter, seat allotment letter, and other necessary documents.

Faculty

4

The student to faculty ratio is 90:1, and the relation between faculty and students is very good they are very friendly and easy to approachable. we have our regular classes and tutorial classes too and if needed they can also provide personal extra classes on weekends. Dr BN Gosh is my chemistry teacher ,he is very friendly. He is also the warden of boys hostel 3. His way of teaching is very unique and attractive, and due to his friendly he is very popular among students. Best faculties as from my side are maqbul sir, BHS Raju sir, Rabha mam and DK Raju. All the teachers are best in thier own field and we do not have the right to judge them in their profession. Exams diffculty are relative its difficulty depends on student if they study they will score good and will have good cgpa. students fail due to thier behavior they start havimg too much fun neglecting studies. the course curriculum is not much relevant and very old as it is coming same from 10 years.

Night Life

Our college has a very big campus but very less no of hangout spots, it also has lot of lokes total of 25 lakes but almost every lake is dirty and unclean it also not has proper sitting facility around lakes. we had gym cafeterias library and public roaming area. closing timing of Gym: opens at 10 am closes at 9 pm cafeterias : 10 am closes at 9 pm library : opens at 10 am and closes at 5 pm public area is opend for till 10pm after that gaurds do not allow anyone inside campus. as for hostel timings it depends upon year fot 1 st year students closing time is 10 pm for second year it is till 12am and for 3rd and 4th year students there is no such timing. famous hangout places for us inside are near lakes, and campus long roads, outside college we have tea garden and many restaurants and shops near college. After 10 pm every shop get closed and everyone rest inside thier hostels but it is safe to roam outside the college as the gaurds are on thier duty and always active.

Its a good college. I feel lucky to read on this college. They faculty, the facilities is nice. The environment of the college is very good for education. The management cell of the college is also do grat jobs. But the main problem I have found is placement. According to the other colleges the placement of this college is not so good. If the college can give more placement then it will become a great college. Overall its a great college full of knowledge.
