Course Curriculum Overview
Courses are little outdated as per the need of the industry. Like they teach evs and english in 1st semester which doesn't help in placements further. But other wise courses are quite relevant. Exams are held in every few months other than mid sem and end sem there are minors and quizzes as well in college.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunity are quite nice in college as companies do visit to hier students for Internship. Stipend can vary from 20k per month to 1.5 lac per month depending upon the branch and position of the student.
Placement Experience
Placements opportunity is quite good here at NIT SILCHAR. On campus placement starts just after 3rd year. You can get internship after 2nd year itself. All major companies visit here like google,microsoft, jp morgan etc. Total around 700 offers were made last year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fees for b tech is 62000 per semester for general male with family income more than 5 lac. It if off for those with family income less than 1 lac. Hostel and mess fees is 22000 per semester and other fees is 10000 per semester. In 22000 some amount will be refunded depending upon the material used by mess
Campus Life
Campus life is quite good here. There is Asia's largest digital library at NIT SILCHAR. There are two main fests held here one is tech fest and other is culture fest. Almost all sports are avaliable here with proper ground. And maintenance is done on regular basis. There are many clubs and societies at the college and all the clubs are quite active.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are quite okish. You get a bed, study table, and a chair. You also get a almirah for your personal belongings. Mess quality is just par the standard. You get meal at four times in a day.
Admission
The main reason for me to join this college was placement. Here placement for ECE and CS branch is very good. Even in recession last year average package was 15 lac for ECE. Other than that campus is very green and peaceful. You can get admission here by JEE MAINS only.
Faculty
Faculty here are highly qualified and experienced. They teach well too, most teachers are good and supportive except for some. There are many courses for undergrads. Examination is conducted just like in any other engineering college. There is relative grading over here so grades are distributed according to that only
Night Life
There are proper cafeteria,gym and library here. Night life here is not that good. As most of the things get closed by 8 or 9 pm. Hostel timing are 8pm for 1st year students. Some good places to visit are indie lake, tea garden. There are many lakes inside the campus that you can visit.
