What Students Say?
Likes
- The academics in my college is good as the professors are really experienced who are always ready to help us whenever they are needed.
- The syllabus is very flexible and nuanced which helps the students develop in-depth knowledge and opens our mind to new experiences.
Dislikes
- The exam cell has a very poor management strategy as we do not have a clear cut information about when we are having our exams. We get to know about our exams about a week before they are conducted which does not provide ample time to prepare.
- There is no clear cut academic calender. The calender we have is actually a normal calender not mentioning the holidays or events or exams we are supposed to have.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is perfect and very flexible and nuanced helping the students open up to new experiences that help in their overall development. However, I think there must be more options to choose from as this is a University and not a college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year-wise fees include : - - Admission fees = 4000/= - Tution fee per sem = 19,400/= ( total 8 sems -> 19,400*8 = 1,55,200/=) - Lab fees = 1000/= (total lab fees = 4000/= ) - Library fees = 600/= (total lib fees = 4800/=) - Development fees = 2200/= - Caution deposit = 8000/= - Registration fees = 500/= - Exam fee per sem = 1200/= (total exam fees = 9600/=) - At the time of admission = 34,650/= Therefore, the total course fee is 1,79,750/= The fees of my batchmates for categories are similar for everyone.
Campus Life
Campus life in my university is average. The events conducted are good however is in need of much improvement. The main need is a fixed schedule for the events and exams to occur so that we can get knowledge before hand and prepare for the event in a much better way. The college fest"Anweshan" is of the most importance and there is much needed improvement in it. The guest artists that are invited aren't favoured much by the students. Being a University, the artists invited are very "low budget" according to the standards. This affects other factors as in decoration, we are not putting in enough hard work because students have the mindset of "this is who we are to impress with so much hard work?" The library has enough books but I think there is not enough literature books which must be there other than academic based books. Technology provided is enough and good to go for now. Sports is a field where improvement is much required. The volleyball club often faces problems as they do not have a proper volleyball court. There is no basketball court or any other open space where students can play as they wish. The main football ground is not maintained as it should be and often students fight over it as they have to divide the same field for cricket and football at the same time. The new table tennis club does not have a proper court too and uses the academic building lobby as a temporary court. The student-run social clubs are still under development. There are not enough rooms for the clubs. We have a drama club, dance club, and art and crafts club but there is no fixed room appointed for the same.
Admission
This college was a government one which makes it more affordable with good lab facilities. Also, the person who recommended me had a good experience with this college. The course I was looking for was available only in 2 colleges in my state, this one being a govt. college and the other one was private which my parents could not afford. Another college that I had applied for was outside my state and after much review I got to know that it did not have as good infrastructure that my college has. Although, my college needs a bigger lab as the number of student intake is increasing at a large rate every year.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student relationship is not up to the point as it should be. We are always in a dilemma about our exams as we do not get enough time to prepare and thus, fail to give our best. Our professors are very helpful but the management who decides the exam dates (the exam cell) is very indecisive. There is no clear cut and fixed plan about the events which makes it very difficult in case of emergencies or if we need to go somewhere for personal problems.
Night Life
The gym is also not up to the point and the girl's hostel gym is only maintained while the boy's hostel gym has faulty equipment which is not looked into. There is much need to include weights higher than just 10kgs and we need modern equipment rather than the old models which are still used. The library is okay but the cafeteria is not a fixed building with proper seats.
