Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Our course curriculum for Computer Science is currently a bit outdated and hence I feel it is not sufficient for placements currently. The CS syllabus has been updated for 2024 year onwards and hence any new admissions will find a newer syllabus more tailored towards Aritificial Intelligence and current advances in technology.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Plenty of companies come to MEC for placements. Recent companies which came to MEC were Nvidia, Deloitte, Ericcson, Yahoo!, Factset. There are a good amount of internship possibilities from companies such as Oracle and Visa. Our placement cell is very proactive in ensuring a good amount of companies visit the college for placement oppurtunities.

Placement Experience

4

Campus placements are available and they are generally described to be the highlight of the college. Students begin to become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester onwards. Usually average package is around 7-8 lpa and about 80-90% gain placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for merit seat yearly is 40000rs. For management seat, the fees is 70000rs yearly. Exam fees are 2500rs. Scholarships are present if you belong to a under-priviledged category of population. The exam fees is compulsory and must be paid in order to attend the exam.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life has a heavy emphasis on student involvement. Students conduct almost all of the events and programs hosted in the college. Our yearly tech fest EXCEL is conducted by students only and with monetary help by sponsorships. The campus life is thus unlikely to make any student feel left out as all of their talents will be used.

Hostel Facilities

4

I reside near the college in my friends house. The locality has a good amount of food shops and supermarkets and is thus helpful for students without vehicles. They can walk and reach a supermarket or hotel in 1-2 mins. College also provides hostel facilities for men and women.

Admission

I chose MEC over others as I found it to have relatively the best placements. I applied for CUSAT, GEC, TKM and MEC had the better placements. I had gotten into CET but didn't get a merit seat and didn't want to pay the additional fees, so I went back to MEC. The admission process is through the KEAM exam. Selection a college involves a 3 stage priority process, where the college whom you want to get into the most is given the highest priority.

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:70. The faculty is nice and understanding and they are happy to resolve our doubts and any questions we may have about the curriculum. There are 6 exams per semester and they are of a good difficulty, getting S grade requires a good amount of effort. Not many students fail in the exams due to the proficiency of the faculty and their promptness in helping the struggling students.

Interview Experience

4

No I did not face any group discussion or interview or written test for the admission in MEC. The admission process was through the KEAM exam, which is a common exam for admission in most of the colleges in Kerala. A good score in KEAM grants entry to more prestigious colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
