Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is a bit out dated and doesn't make the students industry ready. It needs an improvement and changes. Teaching method is top notch. Out teachers only teach us relevant and prepare us best for the exams

Internships Opportunities

4

Our college offers internship opportunity as well. Almost 90% of the students get internship. If you are Skilled enough you get stipend as well. Most of the student from our batch got internship at Cochin shipyard, HMT, FACT etc

Placement Experience

5

Our placement cell is one of the best cell in our College. They work really hard to bring companies to our college. Hence, we have the highest package being 52 LPA and average of 8 LPA. Top companies who visits us are TCS, L and T, Sobha constructions, Ansys, Adobe, Redbus etc. Almost 70% of the students who sit for the placement get placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

Our college collects fees twice a year, that's is sem wise. Fees for a sem is 25000 along with the examination fees of 2663. There is no such lab fees . If you are an sc/st student you don't need to pay any fees. If your from management quota you have to pay around 50000 per sem. There's also NRI Quota where the fees is 1 lakh per sem. All the students from various categories must have to pay the exam fees compulsoryly apart from the category or fee consession you avail. There is no extra fees for anything besides the library fees. Our alumni provide scholarship for selected students

Campus Life

4

We have tech events like every week. Our college has almost 20* clubs conducting various events every other day. Our biggest tech fest is Excel where students from various college participate. It is conducted annually. We also have our Auto exhibition happening every year conducted by the mechanical engineering students. Our college has a ground for various sports activities.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Girls have a seperate hostel nearly 400 metres away from the college. We have two resident tutors in the hostel. With the hostel fees being 7000 per month. There is a curfew at 9:30 pm for senior girls and 7pm for junior girls. There is no dress code inside the hostel. Meals at hostel is very delicious and we can take as much as we want

Admission

I took this college because it's at the heart of kochi and for the placement of the college as well. I'm glad I took MEC over other colleges. MEC provide various tech fests. Excel mec is one of the best tech fest in south india.

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio is pretty high. We have almost 1:10 ratio of student and faculty. All the faculties are very well trained and highly qualified in their respective field. Faculties from the mechanical branches is pretty chill. They are very good at teaching aswell for extra curricular activities . Exams are moderately difficult one has to study well to score really good marks. Course curriculum is bit out dated. There's two internal exams before the sem exam. And an internal exam for the lab

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
