What Students Say
Likes
- Diversity of the College: In Hindu College, I find people from everywhere, from the nooks and crannies of the country, to the world.
- Exposure: For anyone who comes from a lower tier city with no prior exposure or experience, this is the perfect college, for, not only does it provide you the opportunity to do things, but also pushes you out of your comfort zone.
- Academics: Given that it's no. 1 college in the country, the academics, the faculty, everything is just brilliant and rigorous.
Dislikes
- Politics: In Hindu in particular and in Du in general, politics is everywhere, but it is not professional, it looks creepy and annoying.
- Infrastructure: Although infrastructure is incredible, there are times when things don't work, like in our classroom we have two ACs but none of them actually work.
- Administration: The administration will give you a red-tape beurocracy vibes.
Course Curriculum Overview
Political Science makes you think about things, make you do something about what I wrong in the system and society. It will make me an intellectual person and equip me with the capacity, not just of thinking, but also acting.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid 26870 for BA Political Science Hons. For SC/ST and PWDs, it's much less. Infact for PWDs the fees is in hundreds! A number of scholarships are provided by the college: Raj Bhargava Scholarship: 75000 rupees and a tablet with Dubai trip. It is meant exclusively for humanities students and in that, 2 seats are reserved entirely for history grads and other seats for other humanities courses.
Campus Life
Every now and then events and webinars keep happening. We have 3 storey building dedicated wholly to books and library. Smart boards, projectors, ACs There are a number of societies dedicated to different fields, from art to intellectual discussions, everything! We have the biggest sports ground in the whole university. A lot of societies are active here.
Admission
I applied to Presidency College, Kolkata. BHU Shantiniketan Hindu College turned out to be the most appealing college as it got NIRF 1 this year. So I counted on my decision, and my decision counted on me, therefore I expect a vibrant life here.
Faculty
Faculties are approachable, they are nice, kind and supportive. Chandrachud Singh is the best teacher I've ever met. Seema Das, although she's really nice, the fact that she only expect us to do things without explaining and illustrating the concepts, gets frustrating.
Other Applied Colleges
Presidency University | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (History)
I got admission in Hindu college at the same time, and before it, Presidency didn't seem appealing that much.
