Course Curriculum Overview

3

Bachelors in commerce has always encouraged me since my early high school days. The curriculum in St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, faculty makes us well versed with the course and prepares us to face the real world. The exam timings are relatively off. Because there are two batches, morning for boys and evening that's is coed. The exams are held in the morning and is very difficult for the evening people to attend and make it through. Where as the calculation and evaluation of exam papers is very strict.

Internships Opportunities

3

SXC KOLKATA has a college society named PLACEMENT CELL, which provides on campus internships and selections. The few companies that visited for on campus recruiting were, DELLOITE, WILLIS TOWER WATSON, NEXTERNSHIP etc. The internship experience was wonderful and really helpful.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Per semester I have being paying about ?70,000. As per scholarships, there aren't any that I have been provided. And the fee structures are same for all the students, there aren't any special discounts.

Campus Life

3.5

The college holds an annual fest called Xavotsav, that is the main fest of the college conducted by the students council. Other events are conducted by departments as their departmental fests, Insignia and Xamas for commerce, Eklopsia for Fine arts and etc. There are many societies in college that impact the students and help them mold their careers through completions and events.

Admission

I had applied in Christ University Bangalore, I passed the written exams and got rejected in the interview session because there was a technical glitch and I could not complete the interview. And after my boards results I applied to SXC Kolkata, and got accepted.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is well versed with their teachings. But there are sometimes when the faculty aren't able to complete the syllabus on time and end up rushing us with the syllabus. When asked for help they provide us with insights and make it easy for us. Overall the faculty is good and helpful.

Placement Experience:

On passing 5th semester, the students of Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration are eligible for campus placement offers. The campus reach out college during our sixth semester to interview us. After passing sixth semester we can proceed with the jobs in case we qualify. All the Big 4s viz EY, Deloitte, PwC and KPMG including with MNCs reach our college for campus placement opportunities. They definitely select students each year. The highest package offered till date is 10 lakhs with a associate profile. The average package is 3 laks. The percentage of students getting placement offer is between 5% to 10 %. My plan after the BCOM course is becoming a successful Chartered Accountant and Cost and Management Accountant.

The placements are good. Top recruiting companies of our college are Wipro, ITC, PWC, Capital First, Future General and Times of India. Students majorly go for higher education, and around 30% of the students opted for internships. The average salary package offered was 2.5-3 LPA. Job roles were for students from all 3 specialisations like finance, marketing and HR.
