College to enjoy a lot and study a little

According to me, my college is one of best colleges in WEST BENGAL being situated in a popular location with lovely batchmates, best seniors, and a hardworking faculty. The only area of concern is the placement wing which in future years will be all sorted.

I got admitted in Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology through WBJEE 2017 exams. My general merit rank was 8589. I had opted for this college as it is situated at a popular location of Kolkata, i.e., Salt Lake City which is accessible very easily from my house. Another reason for my decision is it is a government funded college.

Our college do not provide internships but one can do internships and our college will give full support. First of all, if any student does any internship, the student is free to miss classes. He/She will not have any attendance problem. Many students are also doing internships at our college. The internships are mostly found from the different online websites.

The only reason to worry in our college is the placement. To be honest, the last few years, the placement scenario is the worst. As a result, many students are now preparing for higher studies or government jobs. Moreover, some companies like TCS, COGNIZANT, WIPRO, etc. come and students are taken in a very less number. It is probably same for all the government colleges. Although a shocking fact is everyone from our college are successfully doing a job.

Many events are held in our college during a year. Events include Fresher's welcome which is named as Aagaman; technological fest named Enginerd's; sports fest named Annual Sports Fest; cultural fest named Resurrection and farewell celebrations are held every year. Festivals include Saraswati puja and Holi are also celebrated in our campus. Each of the events are completed with huge participation with students from other colleges are seen participating.

Campus life is probably the most enjoyable time of our lives. The gender ratio is approximately 70:30 for boys and girls. Every student is treated equally. No factors such as race, religion, economic status is tolerated in our college. Every one saw equally. All the competitions such as robotics, debates, etc. are held during our technological fest.

The best seniors probably you will get in your college life, such are our seniors. Ragging is completely banned in our college and no one every tries to do it with the juniors. The seniors are very helpful to be it in any topic of study or any permission required in organizing anything.

As I have mentioned above, I appeared for WBJEE 2017 and secured a general merit rank of 8589. On counseling, I was given this college in the first round. I had no problems with it and hence I locked it as my choice. On the day of admission, I along with other students was made to sit in a room. One by one the administration was calling us for admission. We had to fill a form and submit our first semester fees and we were then admitted into the college.
