My experience at HIMT pursuing GME

GME course curriculum is vast as we need to acquire the ship engineering knowledge in this 1 year, but with the help our faculties and infrastructure facilities learning process has been simplified. Our curriculum is as prescribed by DG shipping. Our syllabus is covered in 2 semesters. In both semesters we have end semester exams. Exams are conducted by the college only, so not too difficult.

From first semester end only we are eligible for placements, various companies like Goodwood, Damico, Eastaway, Dynacom, Sanmar, Bergebulk, comes for placements at HIMT College. Myself I'm placed at Synergy Marine Group . Our first 6 months is training period and during that period we get a stipend of 50000 per month. After clearing the 4thengineer competency our salary increases to 1.5 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs per month and once you become chief engineer you can draw a salary of about 15 lacs per month. You also get an NRE status of you sail forore tan 6months in a financial year. Around 85% of students get placed before passing out and the remaining in another 6 months time.

Course fee for GME course is 395000, it's inclusive of our Tution fees, hostel fee, mess fees, uniform fees, books and stationary and other documentation charges. Laundry fee monthly 150 RS we have to pay additional. The basic stcw courses required for applying CDC is also included in the above fees. I chose HIMT for GME only for this reason, because this type of quality educational facilities you cannot get anywhere else in India at this fees rate. I'm glad to chose HIMT and thanks to HIMT Management . I have completed 7 months of course and I got placed in Synergy.

HIMT follows co education system, we have both girls and boys doing various courses in HIMT, we have annual fest called Technovision, and students from various colleges across India participate in this vibrant energized event. It's a 2 day event with lots of fun and entertainment.

Being a residential course it's mandatory for all the students to stay in hostels within the campus, we have 5 hostel blocks and 4 people share a room, we get to live with students from various parts of India and it's good to socialize with different cultural personalities, we have sufficient recreational facilities like table tennis, carroms, chess within the hostel blocks and playgrounds for outdoor games like football, cricket, volleyball, basketball. Swimming pools. On an overall hostel facilities are excellent

To be eligible for the GME course you should have completed a Mechanical Engineering Degree with 60%. Acquired 50% in English in 10+2. Age limit: should not exceed 28 years on the date of commencement of the course. If you qualify, you can apply online at the HIMT College website, the registration fee is Rs. 999/- after registration you will have an online test(easy) and an online face-to-face interview(easy), once you clear both you can pay the fees and submit your documents. The entire admission process is a robust online system. Very user-friendly.

When we talk about faculty student ratio it is 1:40 for theory classes and when we go for practicals it's 1:8 . So on an overall we get close attention from our faculties and instructors. Our faculties are ex seafarers comprising of seasoned chief engineers and master Mariners. We get to interact all our doubts clearly on time. Our faculties also do mentor us to be ship ready by the time we complete the course.
